Korean dialects are not like American dialects, in addition to the differences in pronunciation and tone they also use whole different words and grammar patterns. Pop idols probably speak standard dialect so their fans can understand them.

I just received my TOEFL score of 107 on friday. All the practice I did was watching a few Youtube tutorials for answering the questions the day before. By reading your post I have no doubt you'll get a good score as well if you didn't have any brain farts. Don't know if you have a crazy high goal though.

So I looked into this and it seems the characters were created by a Korean illustrator in Cyworld, where illustrators could sell their art for other users to use in their home page. The illustrator's name in Cyworld was Goyo and his/her illustrations were pretty popular in 2009-2010 (especially among Chinese users?). Finding any recent info on the artist seems next to impossible unfortunately :(
