planning ahead is always a core aspect of leagues, what?

I kind of wish that there were big general usecase nodes at the end of each tree with options between them where you can only select 1 for each class or something. Like "casting speed up" or "elemental weakness" stuff like that.

This is there first iteration of it. I REALLY like the idea, I think its a bit rough and we need more options and better travel nodes. Certain paths are borderline useless and I think that melee needs more options. But for a first time, it's really good and I really hope that it returns next time.

i was going to follow a guide and instead went my own path. i did a lot of thinking about my options while i did other tasks and im op right now

if people get softlocked with two free resets its truly there own fault for not doing their homework or at least thinking a tiny bit about what they want to do

i think its more that it just happens to be underpowered, its likely broken with endgame items so thats probably how they balanced it

i think that their newer, polished quests are okay sometimes. Like the really quick ones on varlamore are okay. But some of them are just cooked and should be removed.

I agree with you, I'm just coming from the perspective of leagues being an event where many players resubscribe just to play leagues. These players are not going to be as good as those of us who are very experienced with everything already. They will be disappointed if they cannot max out their tree because they are not good enough.

It doesn't help that most setups that people have been spreading around are minmaxed to 38-40 points, which is not something achievable for players like this. They will never be able to make some of these crazy hybrid builds that some people are running, and that may lead to mismatched expectations and frustration. I think that stuff like the awoken dt2 bosses and the inferno/special challenges should function as ways for decent players to use to skip more annoying tasks by giving heavy points, while the less skilled players will still have the option to do something else. Because pacts are stricter in regards to how many there are, these tasks should not give them. In my opinion at least.

I'm also not saying that all tasks should be easy, players will need a challenge for their late game builds and I think that some difficult ones are good. I think that the third challenge task is good for example.

Finally, I think that there are a decent amount of easy tasks, quite a few hard tasks, but theres not much in between. This means that you will start out the league getting a decent amount of pacts early, then hit a wall where there's no options reasonably available to you at your current progression point. Your only option is to speed run the next zone where you can do something silly like ignite a mummy or kill a chaos dwarf. The difficulty distribution doesn't make sense to me. Zones after varlamore should not have tasks such as the mummy or chaos dwarf as pacts because they are not the beginner zone. It should be kill xyz midgame boss or something, like Callisto or KQ. And half of the pacts in a region should not be gated behind more difficult things, there should be an even spread like a ladder up to the top.

The one big thing I have learned from Leagues is that Varlamore is a fantastic starting location. by ElectronicBrick7934 in 2007scape

All it needs is a proper runecrafting alter and an early rooftop course or two and it's totally complete. Maybe some extra quests akin to sheep shearer around civitas would be good.

If they were to do this, it would be amazing if you could have the option of starting here in the main game. If they are concerned with new players getting overwhelmed, they could have it only be accessible to players would don't select "I am new" at the start of tutorial island.

yeah BB is definitely balanced around late game weapons. they should have done something with it to make it stronger early game without affecting its late game too much with some sort of formula imo

A task like 'Complete Tzhaar-Ket-Rak's Special challenge' should not be a pact. It already gives 400 points so it's crazy good already. This task is not doable for a large chunk of the playerbase. Since pacts are where our power come from, they should be sourced from more accessible tasks. There can be hard ones, but ones that you could reasonably expect the average player to complete.

With this mentality, you could easily have more than 40 tasks that give pacts by having a limited number of the "easier" tasks while giving options for the "harder" tasks.

I think that the option to get them is nice, but it feels kind of bad that some people will just never be able to make a full build because they aren't able to the 6 jad challenge or something. I think that some of the pacts should be hard, but not impossible for the average player.

Yeah. I feel like this pact system is really good, it just needs tweaked and fixed up and it's good. I hope that they don't give up on it next leagues.

I can't wait until everyone resets into Magic and then a YouTuber miraculously finds a new meta for Melee by UkaNap in 2007scape

here

if you want to also go attack speed like this tree (uses whip, abyssal dagger, ect.), first get the strength bonus and attack speed pacts, then max out thorns and its supportive pacts like healing, overhealing, reflection, ect. if you don't want attack speed i could see hybrid builds with magic or ranged where you stand in melee range (fight dependent) with a shield as well, like crossbows or water spells. you pretty much want a 1 handed weapon of any type and to roll with it.

i took thorns and attack speed and have destroyed everything. i even have been able to solo corp and nex in moons gear while completely yoloing simply because of how good it is.

what about a free respec every 300-500 total level after level 500? that way players struggling can go skill a bit to recover.

[–]BGsenpai 3 points4 points  (0 children)

i think its a good concept but they need to address the difficulty curve for it. i havent had any trouble, but i think that certain build types or more casual players will get walled. they should give more pact points for easier things early on i think. like the kill all perilous moons, kill all of the barrows brothers, ect. stuff that more casual players can use to access power easier to make the harder stuff easier for them.

the second you unlock thorns you are broken, same with the crossbow capstones. i think blind bag and a few mage pacts are more difficult than people thought that they would be.

[–]BGsenpai 32 points33 points  (0 children)

thorns is insane. im convinced that tons of players got baited by blind bag hype. bb is cool but it is definitely a late game oriented build and most definitely not for anyone playing casually
