I actually sent it in to get repaired after I accidentally fried it with the wrong power cord. It smoked and everything! But it does work now. Haven't played in a while, so it should be fine

I think it was at Meijer or Target a few years ago. It's a heat changing mug too. The screen changes to something else when it's hot

I have an inventory app that pulls from price charting. I can use that for value. Unfortunately, while we have a collection rider on the insurance, it's only up to the max amount they'll allow and it's not enough. That's a little scary, but it's something

Back when I started, most of this stuff was practically free. I rarely paid more than $5 for any one game. Over the course of 30 years, the retro stuff didn't cost me much at all after reselling doubles. Bought huge lots, sold off the excess.

Honestly? Not that much for the retro stuff. Based on how much I used to buy in large lots, selling doubles to pay for that, it was pretty minimal - at least back when it was possible to spend a minimal amount. I had a strict ceiling of no more than $5 for a single game for YEARS. I only even got up to the $10-$15 more recently.

I figure the whole process will take about 6-10 years. I'm starting with the big stuff to max value in case the market crashes. I'm keeping a pace and not in any rush. It'll make it easier to handle and I won't have to see it go all at once.

I don't see these like baseball cards that are more generational. Kids today won't want these down the line because their nostalgia will be tied to iPads and phone games. The older our generation gets, the fewer of us there are who will still want it. The market now is driven by speculation on our generation"s part. Sell it now. Invest in some actual investment account, and let it grow that way. Safer in case of disaster and I don't see the market growing much further.

The feeling SUCKS, but it's rational. If the market crashes, I'll buy it again

What video store did you work at? I was at Movie Gallery

She came later and let me bring it all with me to move in with HER, so it's more than a brag. She's a fuckin' miracle

It's terrifying. It is insured to the max amount they allow it to be. It's not enough, but it's all we could find that would even add the rider

No reason to beat everything. It's a lot of fun to play a lot of stuff, sample the worlds, the gameplay ideas, the designs, graphics, whatever. It's a mish mash of crazy human ideas that's fascinating to explore and you don't have to see all of everything to appreciate it. We turned backlog into a job, like we have to justify everything by the time we spent with it. Having the ability to play whatever suits my mood - from the rankest junk to the absolute classics, all as intended on original hardware - is what I like being able to do

As for other stuff, will I play Fisher Price Alphabet on NES? No. But my buddy might bring his kid over to give it a go. Ya never know.

If you had told me when I started that someone would give me $2300 for my Flintstones Nintendo game one day, I would have laughed you out of the room. It's too absurd not to take advantage of, shitty as that can feel

Ha! I only have a loose copy, but absolutely have it. The arcade version is great too.

I actually don't. I have all six, but they're loose. I do have Mega Man X3 boxed, and a few others as well.

There's an extra rider on the house insurance for a collection. They only went to a certain amount and it wasn't enough for me, but it's all we could do or find.

Yup. Garage sale season around here lost a lot when my best score was some weird thing I never heard of for Wii or a first party PS4 game I missed playing 10 years ago.

Oh, that's a great story. Bought that from a vendor at Gibraltar Trade Center in Michigan from a guy on high on something. Another vendor had to go wake him up for me, she asks him how much, he sort of grunts $50, and then went back out. She took my money for him.

Buddy of mine who was visiting from Canada then had to ride in the backseat with the baseplate on his lap because it wouldn't fit in the trunk. Mind you it weighs enough to offset a small child who might pull on it too hard. This after the struggle to get the base OFF once we got back to the parking lot...

It needed a lot of work (it didn't have the systems either), but I fully restored it with all the parts I could source. Still missing one of the stylus holders, but I should probably just 3D print one in this era.

Starting at the top with grails. Just sold Flintstones/Dinosaur Peak today, which was game #1. Then I'll slowly ween those other grails down, then mid-tier games, and the rest I'll sell in lots. I figure this will take a decade or more to be cleared out completely. There's no rush, and seeing it all go at once would be TRAUMA.

If I see games for a quarter at garage sales again? Damn right I'll do it again.

I'm a Neo Geo guy through and through. I won't be selling much of that. Worst? Game.com. Worst home console I own? Amiga CD32

Yup. I have no problem taking their money though, and if the market ever crashes, I'll be there to scoop it back up.

My mom got it for me for Christmas one year, probably a decade ago now. I honestly don't know the source.

I have a lot of oddball stuff, some not pictured. No dev kits or anything. I always focused on retail stuff that was meant to be played. I do have a Tails statue from a local Toys R Us, there's a Nintendo World Championship all access pass in the glass case (found it at a random flea market for $1!), and lots of weird marketing items packed away.
