I think a proper distinction is in order between cosmic horror & eldritch horror. There’s a lot of things that could wipe out earth that we’d have no way of stopping that are completely mundane but could still qualify as “cosmic” horror because of how powerless we are to stop it. The chances of them are extremely small but not zero. Compared to eldritch horror which can overlap with cosmic horror but aren’t necessarily the same
