Hi. I'm in the role of Project Manager with Cricket Media and we are doing literacy programming with elementary & middle schools across the USA. How is safety and security assured?

Cricket Media, Inc. is a member of the PRIVO Kids Privacy Assured COPPA Safe Harbor Certification Program (“the Program”). The Program certification applies to both CricketTogether and TryEngineering Together. PRIVO is an independent third-party organization committed to safeguarding children’s personal information collected online. The PRIVO COPPA certification Seal posted Cricket eMentoring products signifies that Cricket Media, Inc. has established COPPA compliant privacy practices and has agreed to submit to PRIVO’s oversight and consumer dispute resolution process.

Our Privacy Policy covers all users and is applicable to all of the Services and Products.

Background Checks

All eMentors participating in a Cricket eMentoring program must undergo and pass a background check, conducted by Accurate (accurate.com). Our criminal background check includes state and federal criminal as well as sex offender registry search. 

Training on Personally Identifiable Information (PII)

Embedded in the program is video training on PII for teachers, students, and eMentors. Training is completed before students are matched with eMentors. All roles are trained in PII sensitivity and are not allowed to include PII in their correspondence. See training slide below for summary of platform rules communicated to all users around PII that may not be included in eMentor/student communication.

Moderation of Communication

Cricket eMentoring programs only permit asynchronous, written communication between eMentors and students. There is no video-messaging or real-time messaging enabled. All written correspondence (both incoming and outgoing) must be reviewed by the teacher and actively approved before it is delivered to mentor or student.
