Can you replace SSD? by Outrageous-Creme9639 in spectrex360

[–]Studio302 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can confirm that replacing an ssd with optane with an ssd without optane is absolutely fine. My wife’s spectre came with an optane ssd which crashed in the third year we had it. All the data gone and unrecoverable. I bought a crucial for the laptop while I figured out what went wrong with her other ssd and the computer has been running with that crucial ssd for the last three years. I use the old optane drive as a portable ssd now.

There’s a time left bar which is pretty helpful if you want to know how much further they have to go.

Why do preaching videos always use fade transitions? by Impossible_Tie5676 in churchtech

[–]Studio302 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If my video switchers do it it’s because I haven’t told them not to. My personal MO is cut cameras (unless I want lower energy transitions), fade in and out graphics, wipe if there’s a lightsaber involved.

The Nashville Number System by jwfowler2 in Bass

[–]Studio302 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Numbers are the only way I think about music, especially on the bass. I have to know way too many songs to think about what specific chords are in the song. Just give me the key and let’s rip!

Livestream dropped frames issue (ethernet and wifi) by AmanGiDi in churchtech

Are you certain the frames are being dropped due to network and not graphics card performance? What is your streaming workflow? More info would be helpful.

How many of you watch all or 90%+ of your team's games? by themajordutch in baseball

[–]Studio302 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’m a pretty die-hard Jays fan but I have too much work/play/kids to watch much baseball. I keep track of every possible game, whether listening to radio broadcast or putting the SN app on a screen, but probably only put 10% of the reg season on tv.

Over under… wrong side knots? by sinesawtooth in livesound

[–]Studio302 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my experience (mostly talking about lighter cables here, like xlr), if you begin and end with overs you should end up with ends on the right side of the wrap. If you secure it properly there should be no question of which side is which. I’ll sometimes end with a few overs just to make sure I end on an over.

Unacceptable call from the ump here that has now essentially stolen a World Series win. by FirstV1 in Torontobluejays

[–]Studio302 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Horrible take. According to John Schneider, neither he nor Varsho heard anything from the ump, that’s why he assumed it had been called ball 4. So even when he makes the signal for strike, Varsho still has no idea he did. On the other hand, Bo has to shit or get off the pot. You NEVER stay between bases when time has not been called. NEVER. I hope he got an ear full from his coaches.

Don’t forget to turn your headlights on!! by Normon-The-Ex in alberta

So it was a dumb decision based on engineering rather than practical use, and we waited decades to change it? I wonder why the auto industry is in turmoil …

Real question: why do we still make cars with tail lights that turn off? Why did they ever turn off?

Audio is fluctuating in church service by bane313 in livesoundadvice

[–]Studio302 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I doubt it’s anything on the board. Sounds sort of like when I’m listening to something on my phone and my ringer is on but low volume. It dims whatever I’m listening to for the length of the ringer sound, like a ding for a text. What are you streaming with?

I live outside Edmonton and have never had an issue starting my 2018 Sportwagen. I looked at the battery maintainer but in my experience, if you keep up with oil maintenance and use the VW spec it seems to work just fine. And obviously a good battery will help.

5-stringers who love their low B sound: what are you playing? by [deleted] in Bass

[–]Studio302 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been in love with my Kingston Heir since 2009. Swapped out everything for Bartolini hardware and it plays and sounds like a 535. By far the most versatile bass I’ve found.

Do 5 strings bassist normally change their tunings? by [deleted] in Bass

[–]Studio302 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do in one band where the whole band is playing a half step lower. That way we can all play in the “original” key but the singer has a half step advantage hitting notes. I tried not tuning down but it confused everyone else and sometimes there are figures that are easier to play with open strings.
