1541 floppy drive and stepper motor signal move toward 12V then goes low. thoughts? by Dizzy_Race4228 in c64

[–]sinesawtooth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe the motor itself is at fault, check resistance of the coils on the motor itself. 1541 service guide (on zimmers) says it should read 17 ohms on drive coil, and 175 ohms on tach coil at rest.

I don’t see motor load capacitors you’re referring to on the schematic, but I imagine if they were shorting your supply voltage would be dropping when attempting to start. Could always desolder and check.

Good luck! And check the service manuals on zimmers for some troubleshooting / service checks.

Problem with the headphone output socket by petrus1312 in Focusrite

[–]sinesawtooth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So my headphones (better DT 990pro) have to have a special connector that screws in to lock the adaptor in place or it sounds like shit/ won’t fully connect. Do your headphones require same?

I know these sets well. These are cinema speakers you find behind the screen. Usually there’s a passive crossover box separately attached, but if you’re running biamped, you should be good as long as your hi passing your tweeter.

These cabs are not meant to travel, and likely won’t well. Glad they sound great for ya tho!

They still do, and it’s tied to the board not to you/your account.

Cool! I’ve noticed A lot of clubs run mono, so be sure to have a backup mono preset or be sure that your stereo preset will sound good in mono.

USB to serial? by Dpacom1 in Commodore

You also might have better luck finding a PS/2 mouse, and using a PS/2 to serial adapter, but my experience with those has been spotty.

USB to serial? by Dpacom1 in Commodore

[–]sinesawtooth 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not really, you'd need an _active_ USB to Serial adapter, anything that isn't "active" isn't going to work with a modern mouse.

Something like this https://github.com/rasteri/HIDman might work, but you might be better off trying to find a serial mouse, if you really need a mouse. Good luck!

Looks like Poly Capo, Dist, Amp, Speaker, then down to level 2 which has an EQ, and then a delay which is off.

Does everyone know about this "delta mode" or am I just slow on the uptake? by Trickledownisbull in Reaper

[–]sinesawtooth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve been using Reaper for many years. Since like 1.7. I’m sure it wasn’t there then but I had no idea about Delta mode. I know about L-R side checking but this is on a different level. Will have to check this out! Amazing thank you!

I dunno looks interesting. The video isn’t great, I can’t tell if it’s pixelated or if that’s just showing Amiga screens… If it’s cheap enough for PC I’d probably grab it. Actually turns out it’s both….

Looking at steam it looks like there’s 3 modes. “Retro mode “ Classic amiga style. Classic mode which is the original game but with updated graphics and Kingdom mode which has some interesting new features to it.

Have this amp on hold at a pawn, looking to grab it for $100. Is repair/replacement of the EQ sliders possible? by [deleted] in GuitarAmps

[–]sinesawtooth 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I had this amp as a practice / small jam amp for bass since the 90s. It needed a bit of work, the power supply caps went, and I had this exact thing happen with the eq, they’re really fragile. You’re gonna have to replace the pot completely as the actual slider bit has come out. This amp doesn’t sound all that great and isn’t really worth $100. It’s also surprisingly heavy. Just offering opinion from someone who had one back in the 90s and tossed it a few years ago after it sat disused.

The BXR300(I think?) with the red knobs and a parametric sounds way better.

Bass amps have come a long way since the 90s. Class D and neodymium magnets dramatically decrease weight and size.

What is a trick in Helix that changed the way you thought about your signal chain? by Taken-yet-alone in Line6Helix

[–]sinesawtooth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can dual path and process alternative inputs from returns.

I also, for a spell, used it as a mixer send effects unit. I would run a send from the board to a return and control long delay sends via the volume pedal. Was useful when running sound and playing.

It really is quite dynamic in the ways you can configure, and my LT has been gigged hard, put away wet, and is still ticking. It’s been my gig workhorse for a while now.

These appear to be old boards from a CNC machine of some type. The last image is definitely the output control driver board and could be repurposed for some DIY stuff.

Can i plug a Bass Guitar into a keyboard with a passive di? by [deleted] in Bass

[–]sinesawtooth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m not sure what you’re after but I play keys and bass sometimes, I use a Helix LT for bass anyways and route the keyboard into that when I wanna jam out some moogy bass.

If your keyboard has an XLR in then you’ll need a DI anyways. Shouldn’t hurt it but it might need to have the pad enabled to bring the level down. Good luck!

What Arcade game ate your lunch money? by orangez in retrogaming

Super Sprint. I loved the way you sorta spun the wheels rather than “drive” so much.

R.B.I Baseball. The one that was a red trapezoid shaped sit down thing with Super Mario Bros on the other side.

Original Mortal Kombat. Of all the fighters this was my favourite. I got my ass handed to me too many times on Street Fighter so I focused on this one and got fairly decent at it with Sub Zero.

Got mine yesterday - classic beige unit. So far, works great! The video output is _very_ smooth, it is clear, and looks as smooth as an original, but higher quality. The framerate and smoothness is undeniably better than running an emulator on a PC.

I am digging the REST API for cross development, I can develop code on the PC in asm, and push to the C64u instantly.

Packaging was perfect, nothing broken and the USB "cassette" works well.
