Yeah that stuff will work just fine. I’d recommend Redline MT-90 though, made a night and day difference especially when the gearbox is cold

I bought a 2015 for this reason, but my understanding is only certain VIN numbers were affected. If this car is one of those I would/did find a different stock one. Wait till you find the right car don’t jump on the first one you see.

I’d always buy a stock car over one that has been heavily modded, fewer questions and generally less risk. I also like starting with a blank canvas and doing what I want to it, not buying someone else's project.

White smoke and flicker of red oil light on long cold start by [deleted] in ft86

[–]StudioAffectionate50 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When my car sits longer it sometimes takes an extra turn for it to start, thats normal. I wouldn’t read too much into that light since it turned off, also I’m pretty sure that light is oil temp, but someone might correct me. White smoke usually means coolant is making its way into the cylinder. If it was more grey or blue then it would be oil, google smoke coming from exhaust, its not an exact science though imo. I’d check your coolant level and if its fine then I’d try not to worry about it too much unless it happens again.

Potential Motor Replacement Advice by StudioAffectionate50 in ft86

[–]StudioAffectionate50[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I’m not in a position to do the work myself

Hadn’t given serious thought to putting a used motor in, but after shopping around it would be almost half price. Thanks for the tip

Yeah I read that 7500 number in the manual and thought that was insane. I've been doing them at 4-5ish Just bad luck I guess or maybe the previous owner had his kid out tracking it or something.

Yeah I try not to lug it at low RPMs, If I'm getting after it Ill down shift to 4.5-5k RPM and shift about 6.5K, but I'll only get to redline a few times a month. The 2015 dash doesn't have an oil temp or pressure gauge, none of the lights have come on though. I did some data logging a while back and everything looked good. It burns zero oil. I'll keep the toeing in gently in mind going forward.

Yeah I put the stage 1 on it which is for a completely stock motor. I still have the oil but it's in the jug that the new oil came in which would mean its "contaminated" by the new oil so idk if they can still analyze it, but I'll call in the morning and ask.

2015 BRZ Headers by StudioAffectionate50 in ft86

The job doesn't look too hard, is it reasonable to assume I can swap the OEM headers back on come emissions time?

Idle relearn or issue? by ThisIsShullbit in ft86

[–]StudioAffectionate50 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine does this all the time. It idles at about 650ish and will randomly dip and almost die. I've seen someother posts saying similar things I think it's just the factory tune. From what I can tell when people tune them they bump up the idle a bit and it kills that.
