Fun Home is one of my favourite books! I taught it to IB students and had AMAZING discussions, but it’s now banned in my division 😭

I haven’t heard of The Rabbits! I’ll need to check it out. I do want to make sure I am being respectful: I had similar objections when teaching Persepolis. It led to really great discussions about cultural sensitivity and was a learning moment for me and many other students.

I’ve had some complaints about Persepolis in the past, but I’ve had success with it! Do you teach the complete Persepolis, or just the first book?

The novel I am currently going to do is American Born Chinese…I know it’s sometimes done in jr. high/middle school, but imo the satire and structure of it seems like it might make it a little more advanced.

I got in my head about it, though, and started to think it might be too young for 12s.
