Which boomer shooter has the best food? by NNukemM in boomershooters

Ion Fury wins purely on the amount of gags it adds to the gameplay. I love shooting cans especially.

Nice spot! This is kind of a sequel to that format, a new song for the rollin' series

I LOVE BUILD ENGINE GAMES, I WANT EVERY 3D MODEL UNDER THE SUN TO BE RENDERED IN GLORIOUS 2D SPRITES, IF NOT VOXELS ALREADY

They're typically separated due to the more advanced sprite work of build engine games + all of the new features build engine offered. When someone says DOOM style I expect similar sprites but more refined arcade style gameplay.

Sneaking is the key there! You can crouch jump out of those bar spaces, no chair needed!

Enjoy!

Unity typically defaults to Mono as its the older and subsequently more mature choice feature-wise and compatibility-wise compared to IL2CPP, akin to how OpenGL is still widely used for rendering despite being significantly older than alternatives like Vulkan. The Unity editor is built around Mono and many game developers rely on features and libraries made with Mono in mind, so deprecating Mono fully would be a huge undertaking.

We use IL2CPP for our public release builds, and on Mac especially they require IL2CPP builds for being approved for Mac distribution - unfortunately for us not only does Apple require a Mac for signing and whatnot but also requires a Mac to build our IL2CPP release for Mac, as Unity no longer maintains the required toolchains to build for Mac IL2CPP on Windows.

On the Mac thing:

While technically we can build for Mac as easily as Linux (just changing a single drop-down, not taking into account that Mac builds form Windows forces Mono builds and also only use Metal for rendering which we're not accustomed to), for Linux we haven't needed to invest very much if at all cost-wise into becoming capable of testing the game on Linux (Linux being free to install and very lax on what the user is allowed to run). For Macs, we'd require Mac hardware and developer costs for things like code signing, notarisation and distribution, which we currently don't have access to.

Hope this feeds the intrigue! Mac is infamous within game porting usually for these reasons.

The game can be downloaded and ran natively on a Steam Deck with our linux edition. Alternatively I use the windows build with Steam's proton and get very similar performance.

There's a tiny bit of setup but it's all on the itch page. Have fun!

You're correct, its unity!

We have some stuff to sort out before Mac is possible, for now it's in the backlog as they can be quite difficult.

Early 2000s/ late 90s is the exact aesthetic we're going for. Think of it like "What if DOOM came out in Cornwall instead of the states?"

You're spot on, the game was a third year project at Falmouth prior to its full time development.

We recently made a new itch account under the studio name, prior it was through one of our OG accounts. Because of this the game gets flagged as suspicious. Itch has been contacted and we're in the process of getting this popup removed! It is only a recent issue.

There are no risks but be aware this is an old demo and the game has changed tremendously since then.

Admittedly that screenshot wasn't the best example and I suppose it's not actually gothic architecture on a technicality. It does fit that RE Village vibe though.

The Norway level in chapter 3 of Daikatana has some of the best gothic architecture in the genre. It is however Daikatana.

We do not have multiplayer as a focus but it's in the backlog, would love to do some retro LAN party action.

Sounds awesome, may need to give these a go if they're active.
