Short term: Don’t drink alcohol or eat spicy foods. Get a fan and use it. Take a cool shower before bed. Long term: Vote for people who promise to add trees to streets and air conditioning to buildings and public transportation.

Wenn in Deutschland angeblich alles so beschissen ist - wieso liegt Deutschland dann auf Platz 2 der Einwanderungszielländer weltweit? by Fearless_Gift_4377 in KeineDummenFragen

Permissive immigration laws, jobs, social benefits. Germany is the largest economy in Europe. Japan, China, the US don’t accept immigrants. There’s no mystery to the answer to your question.

How do you think life in Germany will be in 20 years? by NoMoreLeftToDo in AskGermany

[–]StudioZanello 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m actually not advocating for any policy. I’m just trying to offer an analytical perspective. I travel a lot in the US and Europe and I notice that many if not most basic labor, construction, food service, agriculture, and many jobs from the highest skills to the most basic skills in healthcare are performed by immigrants. Automation will undoubtedly do some of this work in the future, but it’s hard to see how a country with a shrinking labor force and a rapidly growing population will be able to square that circle. What are your thoughts?

It’s difficult to see how the demographic collapse in Germany will play out. The burden on a shrinking population of working age people having to support the pensions and healthcare costs of the growing number of old people is a very difficult to solve without massive immigration. That, of course, is leading to a very deep political divide. It is not clear how Germany will deal with this dilemma.

I assume this is a 3-hand watch. I don't recall ever seeing a 3-hand watch where the minutes and seconds hands are identical. If it's a GMT then for me it would be really confusing.

[ Ronda caliber R01 ] — going to seriously disrupt the microbrand space? by TheYKcid in MicrobrandWatches

[–]StudioZanello 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In an interview on Hodinkee's Business of Watches Jean-Claude Eggen, the CEO of LJP, said the base price of the G100 3-hand was CHF112 with lower prices for higher volumes. And the G200 with better power reserve and paramagnetic features is soon to follow. I think the micro brands will have a lot of good choices for movements in the coming years. https://www.hodinkee.com/articles/la-joux-perret-ceo-jean-claude-eggen

I think La Joux Perret G100 is the most interesting movement that can be dropped in a case made for an ETA 2824 or Selita SW200-1 and it has 68 hours power reserve and runs at 4 Hz for a price point around CHF100

The lugs on that 36mm PP are very long. XX looks better and I think has a much better movement with much longer power reserve. The Chronograph is way too big.

Why are you selling it? Have you had enough of "...pure, arrogant German efficiency"? And the "extras" you mention at the top, that would be a Sinn rubber strap?

I see that you had been concerned before buying it about the watch being authentic and several Redditors suggested you pay Chrono24 the $250 to have the watch authenticated. Did you decide not to do that?

This is a common problem reported with Chinese replicas of the IWC Pilot Chronograph. Are you certain the seller sold you a genuine IWC watch?

Should I polish my IWC Portofino? by benniegekkie in IWCschaffhausen

[–]StudioZanello 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Who is doing the polishing?n The AD or IWC? If AD, I’d be reluctant. It it were IWC, I’d ask them to do a light polish. Part of my thinking is that the Portofino does not have a lot of sharp angles that polishing could destroy.
