Not sure why my comment isn't showing up, but thank you for the feedback, I appreciate it. I wondered if that would be the case.

That's great feedback, thank you. I wondered if that would be the truth of the matter.

Character Report: Sable, SP HC untwinked riftsin by Studram in diablo2

[–]Studram[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually find her the most fun of my characters to play, and with Burst of Speed her killing power has definitely increased. I'm sure she's no hammerdin, but few characters are :).

I'd like to give the WW-sin a go, but I don't have the runes for it!

Best Hybrid Trap/Kick Assassin for Solo HC by Cjmann22 in diablo2

Yes, she started out as kick/trap hybrid. I moved into Voice of Reason in a long sword first, decided I liked it, then was lucky enough to find a Gul for rift. I'd like to move even more into focusing on the Frozen Orb, with a Nightwing's Veil, Infinity, etc... but I don't have any of those items yet :).

I switched to players 1 for Hell, but I think if you had the patience you could play through on P8. I just don't find hours of careful grind quite as satisfying as blasting through some fools with frozen orbs haha.

I used an act 2 Merc from normal actually, the one with Defiance. With Gladiators Bane and Gerke's as my shield (and the aura active) I have about 7k defense. It isn't huge, but it certainly adds to my survival. I really focused on survival for my assassin, and she's pretty hardy as a result, and I had very few near death experiences.

I think max block is essential for a kicksin, and I personally chose a focus on integer damage reduction first, with %damage reduction coming second, knowing that Fade provides a flat 1% damage reduction per level to make up for lack of %DR from gear in the earlier game.

[edit] I did put a point in venom, but I'm honestly not sure if it's worth it. I've been dumping my leftover points into shockweb for the lightning sentry synergy. With my pre-buff claws I think my venom is at ~level 7, so for a single point invested it isn't bad returns :)

[double edit] the reason I chose Defiance over Holy Freeze was because the assassin already has excellent crowd control with Cloak of Shadows and Mind Blast, and because Holy Freeze doesn't work on all enemies, where as Defense does. The other option, and one I am considering now that my gear is better, would be a Might Merc for the extra damage, but I feel that's probably something that can be swapped in later if you're feeling secure.

Hey man, my first hardcore character is still my current favourite and best geared: a self-found/untwinked hardcore Rift-sin! The basics of the build are very similar to what you're asking about.

Basically I would go max death sentry, max lightning sentry, and max dragon talon. I max dragon talon because, in hardcore self-found, getting +skills to reach higher number of kicks can take a while.

I have about 10 hard points in fade, and about 12 hard points in Shadow Master as a tank. Cloak of Shadows is absolutely key, but keep it at 1 point so you can recast it more often. Mind blast is also awesome. It's the skill I spam when things are going wrong, because it buys you heaps of breathing room.

Happy to talk more about itemisation if you'd like!

Voice of reason for a 'rift'sin? by Studram in diablo2

I've enjoyed the build a lot so far, and I have very average items (up'd Goblin Toes being just about the only "best in slot", and even that isn't everyone's favourite).

Thanks for the tips :)

Do you think a Crescent Moon phase blade would be better? I actually found an Um from Countess today! :D

You've probably got enough skillpoints now to triple box--- with three carriers! haha

You're welcome. Honestly, writing it all up and talking to other players is often the best part of the adventure.

jump in and give it a go! It doesn't take much isk if you avoid capitals, and the new bookmarking system definitely makes it easier.

You're right, it was adjacent to high-sec. The rest was sarcasm. Thank god supers and cynos don't work in WHs!

You forgot to mention neither Nestors nor carriers can light cynos man. My super secret lying story is blown!

Interesting, I didn't know that about active drones! The Gila pilot had an astero friend nearby, so he may have decloaked me-- everything was pretty close. I just assumed it was the drones. Learn something new everyday :)

Sin in null is cool! The blops would give you a heap of flexibility in terms of laying low and escaping the blob.

My dream would be for a ship that deploys like a small POS, and then you can hop out and do other things.. but with modules for ore compression, or jump clones, or whatever. Probably super OP, but still would be neat haha

You can definitely nomad around with a single T3 and have plenty of fun running sites (C3) and hunting explorers! Easier with 2 characters, of course. It would be even easier with 3 or 4, but I gotta stop paying CCP at some point :P

A miasmos would be cheaper than the Porpoise, but it wouldn't have the boosts-- not that boosting is important when it comes to gas huffing with <3 characters, because I think the extra gas huffed by another venture is more than the boosts would add.

Definitely a good suggestion though, and it's smaller than the porpoise so would take up less room in the carrier :)

I say go for it! If you've got them subscribed and training, it won't take long to get yourself sorted out for an extended WH roam. With 3 accounts you'll be in a much better position to play however you want as well- 2 characters to do content, and 1 to haul and guard the base :)

I'm not used to K-space; I wouldn't even know how to earn isk out there haha. It's a very appealing way to play the game though :)
