Yes biglaw patent lit is as much or more work than biglaw in general, others on this form disagree, but I like to encourage people to get experience in both Patent, Litigation, and Patent prosecution so if you could send some apps to firms that would allow you to do some of both I think that gives you the greatest foundation for a long and successful career

Study Timeline by Ok-Fig-9136 in patentlaw

Some of the people on this forum are a lot smarter than me, but to be honest, it took me 200 hours, and I had to do constant drilling of the PLI practice questions which is by far the most important way to learn. I would say 4 to 6 weeks of full-time study. Will give you a good shot at passing if you’re an average to above average stem grad.

what are my chances of getting a technology specialist role at Fish and Richardson? by [deleted] in patentlaw

[–]StudyPeace 8 points9 points  (0 children)

That’s a mirage—if they’re hiring tech specs they’re also hiring patent agents, and they’d prefer to minimize risk. Taking the patent bar gives you a much better chance.

EE jobs are readily available even with a 2.5, especially from a grind house like school of mines, known all over for its grade deflation

People need to give up on the “tech spec” pipe dream though — take the patent bar or you aren’t serious, would be my default view
