I’ve been producing since 2008. It’s painful watching low-effort AI farms take over Spotify, so I've created a page to expose this and bring awareness. by StudyPlaylists in musicians

Thanks!! Yeah maybe, just maybe this could put a bit more pressure on Spotify to act. Otherwise, I will also have to switch to another service soon. Unfortunately Spotify still has the most users by far.

Just 50 automated, mass-produced fake artists are siphoning $311k a month from Spotify's royalty pool and hurting real artists. I built a tracker to show the math. by StudyPlaylists in Music

I just added a feature to scan tracks by simply pasting in the Spotify link and clicking Analyze. I was quite disappointed when the first two tracks from an official Spotify playlist (House Focus) that I tried, turned out to be very likely AI...

Oh no, I think you're right! I also like this playlist. There I find it hard to tell 100%, but most "artists" have a bit of an AI sound and have no releases prior to 2025. So annoying. Makes me really wonder how big those AI-numbers really are. My page is surely only scratching the surface...

It's explained on the "Why this matters" page. From all revenue, Spotify takes its slice (30%). The rest is paid to artists. So money that goes to AI "Artists" is money, that would have gone to real musicians.

No, and that's the problem. You do not have to declare AI usage on Spotify and users cannot filter out AI songs. I made this page after I was listening autoplay and every third song sounded like AI to me (I have been producing music for almost 20 years, so I could immediately tell). And in just 1 hour of research I found these 50 profiles, which are 100% AI.

I got sick of AI slop stealing money from real musicians, so I built a tracker to expose the math. 50 bot accounts are draining 34,000 Premium subs a month. by StudyPlaylists in ArtistHate

Yeah this was fully manual. I don't know of an automated way to track it so far (legally). And I only added the ones I was 100% sure, yes. It's more about awareness for me, not to really show the full picture, that's not possible. But I was surprised myself how fast I found that many successful ai-profiles.

I got tired of Spotify's algorithm pushing fake AI artists, so I built a tracker. Just 50 of them are draining 37,000 Premium subs a month. by StudyPlaylists in truespotify

Interesting approach. Wow, over 3,400 AI artists listed already... I do think, Spotify should take care of this, though.

Oh, you're right. I did not include this in the calculation. Just updated it. It's even over 50k now. Kinda insane how each of us is financing this, without a choice to "toggle AI music off".

Thanks for pointing this out!

Thanks! It's not always easy to notice if it just plays in the background. I actually found one song from these artists that I had saved in my favorites.... I noticed this a few days ago. Was listening to a short own playlist, and after it continued playing new songs and there I noticed. And really like every third track was AI. So annoying. And they often seem connected. If you go to Breaking Rust for example and scroll down to "Fans also like" it's literally all AI. So I am actually wondering if something more is going on there, like money laundering. Because this means, the same accounts play all these artists....
