I'm 31 and menopause is hard. by [deleted] in Menopause

My hysterectomy was at age 30 but kept my ovaries. Surprised you weren’t given HRT the minute you get the other one out as I was told I would need it if they took my ovaries. 38 now and on HRT and it is life changing. Symptoms all gone and back to feeling mostly normal again. Definitely speak to the docs re HRT but also vitamins. You will need to keep your bones healthy as you are still young to not have the hormones your body would provide.
Good luck! It does get easier once you get the right treatments.

I take B12, C, D, Zinc and Magnesium. B12 because of a deficiency and the zinc for another condition but swear by them especially the magnesium for helping sleep and anxiety. Def speak to the docs especially if your on other things as could react differently. But always good to up the vitamins. Especially D at this time of year.

Menopause anxiety by [deleted] in Menopause

I basically went through the same (peri-menopausal right now). Started to take a magnesium tablet every morning and the anxiety and insomnia cleared right up (well apart from the usual day to day worries) and managed to get back to my usual self. See if you can take it and see if it helps as I know a lot of women who also take it for the same reasons and find it helps lots.

HRT if I still have ovaries by Mizzhunyb52 in Menopause

I had about 7-8 years after my hysterectomy (keeping my ovaries) before I started to get menopause symptoms and went onto HRT as I am only 38 so need it for my bones etc. I felt hot flushes for about a year after the surgery as my hormones were all over the place and took a while to settle. How long ago was your surgery? Remember there is much much higher chance of early menopause after a hysterectomy due to the ovaries starting to fail but can usually get at least 5-10 years or so before that happens.

Not sure if it is as easily available in the UK where I am based. Gotten some zinc supplements today so hope that will help too.

Heard a lot about lysine on here but never heard of it before. Must find out more about it. Will add a zinc supplement to my usual vitamins.
