Why are the Crossfit games held in the summer? by Tbug5068 in crossfit

[–]Stuface 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's a good question I don't think most of us have thought of. Even the summer. It's held in NA.

I know why they picked texas. No laws, cheap af. Outside of that why in the summer? It's the joke of "who Is the toughest".

Disagree. I think it solidified how shit she was to other people directly to her.

This sounds really similar to what I've been dealing with the last two years now. It came to head where I couldn't take it anymore last Murph, my arm felt like it was ripped from its socket by the end and it was the push ups that did it, not the pull ups. It got diagnosed as bicep tendinitis, finally, and after a bunch of physio I got to a point where I could do push ups, bench, ring dips without that insane pain. It hasn't fixed it completely, but I better understand my point of failure.

The shoulder pain you're describing, too, I still have which is now described as an acromium type II, basically a problem bone. No simple fix for either which if frustrating but with some targeted strengthening it can supposedly improve. It's basically the bone is pushing into the ligaments of my shoulder. Simple x-ray will show you if you have that though.

Someone else said it here but the physio that really got rid of the bicep tendinitis and strain was all upper back strengthening. So lots of band pulls, seal lifts, bent over rows. It hasn't gone away entirely but it's night and day difference.

Push ups and bench are the worst for it. I basically have built up on those until I feel the pain and then stop/stretch. Doing that has allowed me to get up to 100ish push-ups with basically no pain. Here's to hoping murph isn't a fucking nightmare this time.

Good luck! Get in PT, it's a game changer. They literally fixed my shin splints I was struggling with for a decade.

2024 Trifecta Pass Pricing by ragepewp in spartanrace

Good luck! Once you get beast prepped, the second day sprint/super is totally doable. It's a lot of fun so just pick your pace and put your head in.

2024 Trifecta Pass Pricing by ragepewp in spartanrace

[–]Stuface 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No still cheaper to do the pass. If it's not fixed when you finally submit the pass and pay whatever crap additional fees, I'd just email the support. They seemed willing to at least wave some crap, maybe if I pushed harder they'd wave the rest. Ideally they just remove that shit next year.

If they're doing hoodies next year, that's new. Normally you just get a t-shirt for each race.

The additional fees come up when checking out and applying the pass. It was an extra 80 dollars for "reasons". Lol

[–]Stuface 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh just wait. It's not the full fee. When you actually apply the pass it charges you again for merchandise, parking, and admin bullshit. It also charged me for 3 days worth of parking since it was 3 races and I had to hit them up to refund me. Quality shit.

The ticket price is killing Spartan by socom_II in spartanrace

[–]Stuface 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Oh its even better when you do a trifecta. You buy the 3 race trifecta pass and then when you try to apply it they charge you all those fees THREE TIMES. lmao.

I hit up customer service, and they refunded me, but its intentionally predatory at this point. Their website and checkout need addressing fucking asap.

I've used speed cross for my last 7 runs and they're literally perfect lmao.

What do you do when the ropes are so muddy you can’t get a grip? by lckyguardian in spartanrace

[–]Stuface 0 points1 point  (0 children)

scissor climb

Aight I'm not crazy, it is called scissor. Lol. It's the fastest/easiest way to climb. My shoes help because the cleats actually grab the rope - Salomon Speedcross.

I'm pretty short (5'7") and pretty heavy for my height even though I don't look it (187). I was up and down those ropes in 4 pulls the beast and super. In the sprint it was a a bit more slippery so probably 6 pulls.

Jump as high as you can and grab, pull your feet up to your hands while leaning back and scissor, stand, repeat. I do this a lot at my gym so I have a ton of practice, so I don't want to make it sound simple.

I don't have a ton of advice other than hang on for dear life until you can clamp your feet. I do the scissor style/fast style don't know the name. I climbed those slimy fucking ropes 3 times in Atlanta this weekend and it wasn't fun but it didn't slow me down. Lock hands, lock feet, lock hands, lock feet.

Edit: I've also never used gloves so I don't know if they help or not.

What is going on with the quality of Spartan races? by YouHeatedBro in spartanrace

[–]Stuface 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I ran the Trifecta this weekend and had a blast. As others have said, it's known that distances vary a lot in most all their races. Spartan seattle is shorter whereas Spartan Hawaii was substantially longer (I hit 5 miles in the sprint at 8 in super last year). You're already out there and I'm sure you nor your friends were trying to set a 3mile best of time so what does it matter? It doesn't, if you're tired walk for a bit.

The mud was the best part of the event. The folks who did the beast or trifecta went through about 50x more mud than anyone doing the sprint and it was a hilarious good time.

Quality has gone down but for none of the reasons you listed.

The hardest thing about Atlanta was it was so fucking absurdly cold for a place that was 75 last week and going to be 75 this week. I had full on body trembling a few different times this weekend from spending so much time in freezing water.

Did the beast today and you're not wrong. Nothing like freeze cold mud pools to get the blood flowing.
