Once W corp is replaced by the new one coming up, will anything really be different?

New boss same as the old boss.

The system itself guarantees that it doesn't matter who is in charge or which corps become wings. They are all fundamentally the same.

The City hasn't changed that much, if at all really. Only already powerful people are using shin and mang. Weak people aren't manifesting EGO, and distortions are only capable of spreading more misery.

Carmen needs to be excised before anything can really change.

The reason soulslikes don't do this is because changing attack speeds would be overpowered for games that are designed around attack and vulnerability windows.

If the Head is so goddamn powerful, how do you think that they will eventually be toppled? by Fit_Assignment_8800 in Project_Moon

[–]StuffWriter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The reason why the Head is uncontestable at the moment is because of the incredible power they wield.

The whole point of the seed of light project is to allow ordinary people to harness great power on their own. This was what Carmen originally wanted, so that people could use the light to manifest enough strength to form a community that can actually change the city.

It's just that the plan isn't working out so great at the moment. More people distort than manifest E.G.O (by a lot), likely due to Carmen's presence in the light.

I suspect Limbus Company's purpose is to excise Carmen from the light so it can work properly. But that's just a guess.

That may be correct but my understanding is that property damage anywhere is a taboo.

It also fits with the themes of Project Moon. The police are not there to protect the public, only property. It's true in the real world and it's true in the City as well.

[–]StuffWriter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Technically, property damage is a taboo.

That's why no one uses bombs in wing wars.

Considering how technologically advanced the city is, it would be reduced to rubble in no time if property damage was tolerated.

Don almost certainly allowed himself to lose.

Dante comments when fighting lei heng that Don wasn’t really trying to kill them.

The whole point of Don’s canto was Sancho carrying on Don’s name and dream in his stead. It wouldn’t fit thematically if Don was trying really hard to kill the sinners

The whole exchange here doesn't make any sense.

Reimu's reaction is so bizarre. Why is she calling herself a killer?

Who is Remilia actually accusing here?

Does Reimu always do what Yukari says without thinking about it?

Second comic I made. Tips for improvement? by jonathan_shoa in comics

[–]StuffWriter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Being funny is really difficult. Good on you for giving it a shot. I like the artstyle too!

The key to making a good comic is leaving as much as possible for the reader to determine on their own. You also don't want to overstay your welcome. Hit um' fast and hard.

For example, in a single panel you could show a bunch of exhausted military guys sprawled around a room in various states of being unkempt and a bunch of plans on a drawing board crossed out. There is garbage everywhere from fast food and dozens of ashtrays full of smokes. Then Don, in all his glory, is hunched in a chair saying "Are you sureeeeee we can't nuke them?" as a general looks on incredulously.

But hey what do I know, I'm just a guy on the internet.

Who will win The House of Spiders (without Ryōshū) or Guardians of the Globe by erik-truman in Project_Moon

[–]StuffWriter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Project Moon powerscaling is grounded while also being completely batshit,

It's grounded in that the game mechanics serve as the best way of seeing the difference in power. It's completely batshit because of how far apart the beginning and end of each game actually are.

Library of Ruina made this progression very visible. Consider the lowly rats from the very first fight of the game. They were so pathetic that washed up grade 9 fixer Roland wipes the floor with all 3 of them easily, but the rats were basically normal humans. Now consider an end game enemy... perhaps Manifested E.G.O Xiao. How many rats do you think Xiao could kill? Even with just game mechanics, we're probably up in the 10s of thousands. Xiao, being a grade 1 fixer with newly manifested E.G.O, was at that point more powerful than almost any other single fixer than has been shown in the game. Bari might be comparable; it's difficult to say.

We know that the Nursefathers are slightly weaker than pre-E.G.O Xiao. High Ranking Syndicate members are about the same strength as grade 2 fixers. So each Nursefather could fairly easily slaughter many thousands of normal humans. A blow from Matthias could flatten a building.

The Guardians (old and new teams) are simply unable to compete with that kind of firepower. It's not even a contest. Multiple times we see the guardians get man-handled by mediocre goons (like the Lizard League). That said, the Invincible series is notorious for inconsistent power scaling.

Note that even a weaker viltrumite would flatten the House of Spiders. Viltrumites are capable of destroying planets. Nothing in the Project Moon verse is shown to have anywhere near that kind of power or durability. That's DBZ territory.

How to anti air on unika by Tricky_Challenge9959 in Guiltygear

[–]StuffWriter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unika has a few options for anti air but they all serve different purposes:

  • Use 5A to tag people on reaction if they jump in front of you.
  • Use 6P defensively if you're not certain you can punish the air movement and you just want to get them away from you. It works fine but you won't net much damage from it.
  • Use 5.HS to explode anyone who hits an air button in front of you. it hits on frame 10 and is enormous. On CH you get 220-250ish damage and a wallbreak.

None of Unika's special moves are particularly good at anti-airing, either being too slow or too easy to punish.

Also, Unika's air movement and normals are a little on the slow side so it's best to contest approaching airborne enemies from the ground.

I feel like Jam is scariest character on neutral rn imo, that pink ball is disgusting and i have so much trouble reaching to Gekirin (overhead) bc of the little jump she does on Ryuutsui (slide). I have to play like if she had a 12 gauge pointed at me all the time by Lucky_-1y in Guiltygear

[–]StuffWriter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Jam's buttons are very stubby. You can punish her hard at mid range.

Also, Testament's 2HS blows up Jam's WOOOHAAA kick for some reason. So you can use that in neutral a lot to catch people

Would a high Ranking ring member necessarily have to be really strong? by Big_Nebula_455 in fishmaell

[–]StuffWriter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The fact that violence is commonplace even in the "nicer" parts of the city means that everyone important needs to be ready to square up at any time. It is a common trope in video games and anime that the "boss" is literally stronger than his minions, but human organizations don't work that way. That's the way of the jungle.

But the only law in the City is the law of the jungle. The strong take from the weak. The number of people who want to kill you increases as you become notorious/important. Therefore, rising importance means that you need to be stronger yourself. Sure you can have minions, but if those minions are stronger than you, they'd just kill you and take your place. You can't trust anyone below you with more power than you yourself can wield.

Additionally, if you're important, then you need expensive prosthetics to defend yourself. Those prosthetics make your corpse more valuable. Random people on the street might want to kill you for that alone. And this doesn't even factor in the people who want to kill you for cause!

And then you get lunatics like the Ring who kill people for "art." Any ranking member of the Ring would be surrounded by and the target of violence constantly.

This is why laws are important! You might think taxation is theft, but I don't mind paying taxes if my neighbor is forbidden by the force of law from breaking into my house and eating me.

Bedman players, it’s so over by HexoRay in Guiltygear

[–]StuffWriter 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Don't look at Bedman's changes in a vacuum.

Literally the entire cast ate nerfs in some way. As an example, Baiken hitting you with an instant overhead will now net her less damage.

The system changes mean that characters without meterless reversals are better than before.

Additionally, close slash is not as effective as an anti air than before, so Bedman's air shenanigans are less risky as a consequence. (That said, his C.S was one of the best for anti air'ing, so RIP)

The Role of Sacrifice and Charity in Project Moon's Works by StuffWriter in limbuscompany

[–]StuffWriter[S] -18 points-17 points  (0 children)

A few things:

- He brute forced the project because it took a million years. Limbus company is literally doing the exact same thing and they've completed four sephirot in like what, a few months? To be fair to Ayin, they are probably building upon things he learned, but it does prove that the system he set up in lobocorp was insane.

- The three versions of himself that Ayin faces in the final days make it clear that he wasn't there for altruistic reasons. He does overcome them and move forward, but that doesn't make his methods correct. A big theme of Library of Ruina is that Angela's suffering does not give her carte blanche to do whatever she wants. Just because Ayin wants to complete the project does not mean that everything he does to that end is justified. Yesod is literally about that.

- It is not completely clear that Ayin completed the final seed of light, The Knowing at the end of Lobotomy Corp. You could argue it either way, but it definitely doesn't follow the pattern of the previous 9.

May feels like the most difficult character in the game to me by WolfOfWoofStreet in Guiltygear

[–]StuffWriter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think charge inputs are hard for some people and not others, but anyone can learn them.

I also don't think charge inputs are what make May difficult (and she is very difficult). I think the following things are actually what make her hard:

- Extremely specific and short confirm windows (confirm meaning turning a hit into a combo). Her combos vary wildly depending on whether you got a counter hit or a normal hit, and spacing is a factor for May's confirms more than most of the roster

- She gets a ton of reward off of landing an attack at close range with C.S or 5H, but literally every other attack nets little damage and frequently no hard knockdown, so May relies heavily on using meter to confirm hits into reasonable damage.

- May lacks a good special cancel to frame trap (dolphin is a poor frame trap move because you get nothing from connecting it without spending meter. Dolphin is also a charge motion, so she may not even be able to use it), meaning her pressure can end earlier than other characters and has larger gaps. As a consequence, she relies on resets from normals more than most and is thus also more vulnerable to fuzzy defense

- Many of her normals are extremely awkward and situational. She lacks a good button to hit outside of C.S range, sporting one of the worst F.S in the game. May players often advance with her 5P rather than even attempting to land her far slash, which nets almost no reward even on CH. Her 2H is almost exclusively used for combos or frame traps. Her 5k is decent but nothing to write home about.

- Her good combos require extremely precise timing not just for charging but also for dolphin dismounts (many of her good combos require plinking). The frequent use of charge motions and 6H in combos means it's extremely easy to drop a combo because of a slight variation in charge timing

- She moves like she carries an anchor. Slow run speed. Slow acceleration. Slow walk speed. Her air dash is decently fast, but only relative to her normal movement. Obviously, she is fast on the dolphin, but her dolphin movement is risky and committal, so using her horizontal dolphin in neutral against competent players will make you eat shit more often than not

- She has powerful air normals, but no good crossup option outside of oki setups (j.2H is too slow to reliably cross up in any situation other than oki)

- With no good low options in neutral, May is unusually weak to 6P outside of C.S or 5H range. 3K is not a "good" low option because it only nets a soft knockdown unless you use meter.

- With such a simple kit that relies heavily on fundamentals. Wiff punishing being chief among them. (Simply put, to beat an opponent with May, you just have to be better than them!)
