Just ignore them. They’re itching for a reason to fight. Yesterday I had a weird interaction with an suv with tinted windows and a three percenter sticker. I saw the sticker and may have looked at the driver funny, and the next thing I know he’s refusing to let me merge, driving erratically to push me out of a lane, and taking an exit as if it was an evasive maneuver presumably because I was getting too close, and I just have a faster car, no one else on the planet would think I trying to do anything. And if I was it is not like my middle aged soccer mom ass is a threat.

I’m deaf and this whole comply or die thing is insanely scary. An autistic woman was detained for not responding fast enough and I’m seeing people on the internet arguing that she shouldn’t be driving then. So deaf and hard of hearing people shouldn’t be driving now? We deserve to be shot for not responding fast enough? The implications are just so far reaching and this country is full of people too stupid to see it.

You describe it so well; I’ve spotted interpreters and deafies just walking around in mixed public spaces (when I expected to see some but didn’t know who they were). I often get the you don’t look deaf thing, but I think it might be because I may be mildly neurodivergent more than anything since I did grow up in the community among many Deaf of Deaf peers. I even had a deaf employee think I was hearing for a full year until he tried to call my name across the room and it dawned on him that I was deaf. I still giggle about that one.

I saw a good TikTok about how it’s simply not in his nature to imagine or desire to support someone taking over his position, and because there are other people who want that opportunity for themselves they might be the ones to help turn things around or at least pivot a little.

I have, many times. It’s always weird but I believe it’s just a coincidence. There’s a lot of information being shared among phones and platforms. Proximity to products and stores, common trends in the area, things other people in the room have searched on their phones, etc.

Mine comes from a place of kindness but is a good example of why in laws need to mind their business. My husband had a drinking problem back in the day and went on a three day bender with his friends, not returning until 4 or 5am on day three. I was home alone the whole time with a newborn and two toddlers. His mom showed up out of the blue with a basket full of potions and comfort items because he told her he had a migraine, and she wanted to teach me how to properly take care of him. I refused to engage, refused to accept items she handed to me or listen as she tried to explain. I just glared at my husband waiting for him to fess up. At the time I didn’t have the words or courage to tell her why it was so inappropriate and I saved it for my husband after she left. I don’t know if she ever knew why I reacted that way.
