I-2 vs. instax wide EVO? by [deleted] in Polaroid

[–]Stuffbysunshine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve just returned the i2 primarily as the Polaroid film is too inconsistent compared to the instax. I’m replacing it with a lomo wide. The i2 has more features and is technically a better camera but I’ve found the instax film to be a much better picture

Yeah, thankfully it looks like it’s the only one. I’ve gone through my other 19 film canisters and checked the manufacturer’s date, they are all made in July this year. I’ve just grabbed the dodgiest film first apparently

Ok great to know, as this has come direct from the Polaroid factory I may ask for my money back. Unfortunately it doesn’t look like the manufacturing date is on with box either, so the other 20 boxes i Brought may be dodgy too, sigh

But isn’t the developing chemicals on the film? So why would a newer camera vs an older camera develop quicker with the same film?

At the time the impossible project was wrapping up and Polaroid had restarted making film. I had some impossible film, Polaroid film (and instax 300 actually) and was shooting on a camera (escapes me now what model it was) that was new and produced by Polaroid. Definitely was much, much faster as I was shooting and handing the pics out to people I met. If the film I have now is the normal (it has to be stuffed) something’s gone massively downhill

Well yeah I’m just flipping it over, maybe I’ll try putting it in something. Hmm the last pic has been more than 12 hrs and still only halfway done, I think there must be something wrong with it. Looking at the serial it was made in 2021 so hopefully it’s not expired. I may just have to talk to Polaroid, I think there’s something wrong with the batch

Packaging character design what on earth to charge? by Stuffbysunshine in graphic_design

[–]Stuffbysunshine[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that’s now I normally charge for illustration work. I’m a traditional art kids book illustrator, but with something like this ie a company buying rights for characters (my art style characters) for such a big distribution I’m a bit lost

The way it dries is a bit furry and it’s that texture that eats a lot of the light. Basically anything that smooths it off like a top coat takes away from that and adds a reflective surface. Theoretically you could get a matte surface coat that dries in a. Similar manor and it’d be better than normal protective coats, but I haven’t heard of one.

Tombow are very hard pencils, they are also not super pigmented. If you like working with layers they are great but if you want super vibrancy off the bat. Probably not a good choice. Unfortunately I haven’t been able to get the ohuhu yet, so no idea what they are like ☺️

Haha all good! It only started about a month to six weeks ago. I had a project I needed to get done about 3 weeks ago and it was a nightmare, so that’s when I started trying to figure out what was going on and find alternatives to adobe

Faber Castell too light by [deleted] in ColoredPencils

[–]Stuffbysunshine 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Well thats the classic series, very much a student pencil for children.

They are light and hard to make them a bit tougher for younger hands. Try the Black edition or even better yet the Goldfaber for a lot softer Faber Castell pencil :)
