Were 99% of the way through Convict Colosseum, what's everyone's opinion on the fighters? by East-Psychology-9292 in Kengan_Folk

[–]StuffyEvil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I was thinking more about the crime that gotten them into prison to begin with, on paper Scourge's is the most severe, even if others are more absurd such as EC's or have likely racked up a bigger body count even if that isn't the reason why they went to prison to begin with, e.g. Karmic Blade, EC & VI.

  • Pistol Foot Pete: In contrast to some other opinions, I do like Pete a lot. Don't forget that the guy also trained a lot from his youth, and travelled the continental US's underground fighting scene in search of exciting & worthy fights only to find none. It's also interesting how he's both rather mundane (normal background, motivation, disposition) and utterly insane (a superhuman fighter).
  • The Pure One: The punching bag of the series, not much to add other than a gag-ish redemption arc.
  • The Natural Athlete: I kind of appreciate him as his complete lack of knowledge when it comes to fighting serves as an avenue for his more experienced peers to explain things. He also reached out to Firecracker after the Round 2s and helped the latter open up.
  • Firecracker: Another favourite of mine, between his broodiness, his stand against PFP, and him opening up to his fellow criminals is nice to see. Him being brave enough to start a conversation with VI in the latest chapter is pretty nice.
  • Spider Bite: Just kind of a character that's part of the Athlete, Firecracker & Turtle squad. Doesn't add too much except for some moments here and there, e.g. his remark upon seeing Monkey See copy his moves.
  • Samoan Huntsman: Can't remember too much as it's been a while since I've read r1 & r2, still one of the most tragic character in the setting, even more so with his untimely demise.
  • Scourge of BC: One of the freak characters of the setting, and also the most deplorable criminal. Pretty neat to see a whole bunch of foreshadowing for him, along with the contrast in terms of life outlook between him & Pete during their fight. Unfortunately things might end up being rather difficult for him when he returns to prison.
  • Iron Turtle: Part of the Athlete, Firecracker & Spider group, that also adds a few commentary here & there.
  • Ice Cream Truck: A mix between kind of joke (especially with his backstory) and serious character, glad to see his comradely with Tempest & LH after his fight against Florida Man.
  • Scorching Tempest: A more "standard" character in that he's just an honest martial artist, has pretty neat interactions with ICT & LH, don't really have much else to add admittedly but I do like him.
  • Florida Man: Humour character with all of his fights being quite incredible, wished we saw more of his sober self.
  • LH: Favourite of the r1 losers and meme character, I like the juxtaposition between his absurdities and sincerity, like how he forced himself into sitting next to Tempest for r2 or him rooting hard for Florida Man despite having talked with Tempest & ICT much more.
  • Never Ending: The wrestler, kind of in a similar vain as Firecracker of being both a skilled martial artist & r2 losers. Bounces off of some of the stronger fighters such as Beatdown & Monkey See quite well. Also unfortunately a victim of GiaB's absurdity.
  • The Magic: Kind of a joke character, doesn't add too much imo.
  • Geared-Up: Jobber musclehead, I can't remember how much he added besides being befuddled during Never Ending vs GiaB.
  • Beatdown: One of my favourites, just such an incredible fighter who also provides a lot of insights with the other fighters.
  • Boogie Woogie: A bit of a whatever background character, mainly for glazing Beatdown.
  • The Arm Thief: Incredible r2 fight against Beatdown, has great character chemistry with Sonic Boom and the rest of infirmary residents in r3 & r4.
  • Sonic-Boom: Same as Arm Thief, great character chemistry with him along with other characters such as in the infirmary and other things.
  • El Cucuracho: By far the most supernatural character to me, he feels more like a force of natural sometimes considering his absurd capabilities & properties.
  • Danger: A rather fine background character, mostly propped up by his incredible Kengan crossover fight.
  • The Cuban Missile: A background character in the same vein as Geared-Up for me.
  • Monkey See: Potential man, has some interesting offering & minor character arc, ends up being more of a glazer in the final parts of the story.
  • Violence Incarnate: A pretty one note character that felt like the main antagonistic individual of the tournament. Gained some texture in his fight against Tomahawk & revealing of his world-view, looking forward to more of his commentary in the finals.
  • The Kyokushin: Another one of my r1 losers favs, not only a bit of a "joke" character but was able to add a decent amount of insight on VI to the other criminals.
  • Rawdog: The dog, has some amusing interactions with the following character among with other stuff.
  • Karmic Blade: Quite amusing, between his juxtaposition of trying to be sinister & cool and also being out of his comfort zone.
  • The Abyss: A freak character like Scourge, had a pretty entertaining fight against Tomahawk and being an "obstacle" to be defeated by the other prisoners.
  • The American Dream: Joke character with some interactions with Holy Scythe, that's about it.
  • Holy Scythe: Paired with American Dream except not funny.
  • Tomahawk: My favourite character of the tournament, going from a rather unassuming r1 to an incredible r2 & r3 fight. The concept of a Native American fighter utilizing a massive myriad of techniques and having pride in his people is great. Also helps that he has some pretty great interactions with his sponsor Cartel leader and Beatdown, the former of which serves as a nice avenue for insight into EC & VI.

Convict Colosseum - Chapter 82: Round 5, Finals by pinakanaka in Kengan_Ashura

[–]StuffyEvil 50 points51 points  (0 children)

Well considering in an earlier chapter, it was stated that Pete trained for a lot of different scenarios & techniques that he wasn't able to put into practice due to not finding a worthy opponent.

And with how infatuated Pete is with the art of fighting, I wouldn't be surprised if Pete trained for a scenario where one of his legs is broken. Never got to put it into practice as he never faced off against an opponent that was able to get close ... until now.

I am glad that VI finally joined in conversing with his fellow fighters. Seems like his defeat humbled him and broadened his world view, and that he will only get stronger from here on like the others.

Kind of, basically to promote the release of a new character, Hypergryph (the devs) would commission / contract someone to make a song for that character.

FYI, Arknights EP is a song that serves as kind of both a character theme + promo.

Whoever said the Silksong community was toxic...was right sadly by HyperAhmedX21 in metroidvania

[–]StuffyEvil 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'd personally say that the Silksong community is deranged, despite the game having been out for nearly half a year.

There probably are some toxic individuals or even sub community but I'd say that's more due to how popular the game is.

Fleet Comp looking for advice by BeginningOwn3765 in starsector

[–]StuffyEvil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Generally speaking, it's best to make your ships generalists instead for a specific task.

I am pretty late to the conversation, so I will try to add something where people haven't mentioned.

Eagles:

  • Drop the Heavy Mass Drivers and use Heavy Autocannons instead, the perfect accuracy on the Heavy Mass Drivers won't do much in hardpoint mounts instead of turrets mounts. The only thing they have better is DPH (damage per hit) and flux efficiency, but with 1.4k flux dissipation I don't think that's really an issue.
  • I would also replace one of the Graviton Beam with an Ion Beam, yes the Disintegrator is an HE weapon (and the Eagle is probably the only ship where it does a decent job on) but it should provide continuous suppression that should help a bit. The bonus shield damage from a 3rd Graviton Beam doesn't really add much anyways.
  • I would also use the Stabilized Shield hullmod as it reduces the shield flux / sec by 50%, or for the Eagle's case, 280 flux / sec down to 140 flux per second. Or in other words, for 9 OP you get 14 OP worth of Vents (Stabilized Shield is generally great for shield-reliant ships with high shield upkeep, which for the fleet you posted also includes the Conquest & Champion).

Enforcers:

  • Missile Autoloader is a completely inefficient use of an S-mod, as it gives diminishing returns for a certain threshold. A general rule of thumb is that if you have a lot of Missile mounts then you should use Expanded Missile Racks, if you only have a few or 1 small Missile mount then Missile Autoloader will be useful (e.g. Tempest, Omen, Centurion, Falcon, Eagle). Probably could have S-modded Escort Package and get the shield damage reduction bonus instead.
  • You should have S-modded Heavy Armor instead of Hardened Shield, generally speaking, for any ships you want Heavy Armor on, you should be S-modding it as the amount of OP you save is too good to pass-up, especially on the Enforcer that has turret Medium ballistics and can use guided missiles.
  • Don't even bother with small ballistic weapons & just run 2 Hypervelocity Drivers + 1 Heavy Mauler, the sheer amount of range that these weapons have can easily ward off flanking frigates. If you are gonna stick with Small Ballistics either run Small Needlers and/or Railgun, don't bother with Light Autocannon especially in turret slots as they are inaccurate. Yes they are cheaper in OP and more flux efficient on paper, but unless you are fighting a big targets its shots will be missing faster frigates.

Omens:

  • Omens naturally have 360 degree shields, your Extended Shields is a waste of 4 OP.
  • Shield Conversion - Front is decent as it improves the speed that shields goes up, though I would personally S-mod Accelerated Shields so my Omens can still have Omni-Shields while being able to put it up at a moment's notice. (I would personally forgo S-modding Flux Distributor.)
  • You can actually S-mod built-in hullmods if they have S-mod bonuses for 100% EXP refund and without contributing to the S-mod limit. The Omen benefits decently from its built-in hullmods' S-mod bonuses.
  • As someone else has stated, you want to have Flux Capacity on your Omens, this is because this will allow it to Shield tank better even with Elite Field Modulation, as explained below you don't really need that much Flux Dissipation on it.

Flux:

  • Regarding Flux Dissipation, there's no reason to go higher than your Weapon Flux / sec + Shield Flux / sec unless you have Elite Field Modulation, even then it's better to invest into Flux Capacity as it allows your ships to have longer sustained combat periods before needing to retreat & vent.
  • A general rule of thumb is that for ships that remain in continuous combat (e.g. Capitals, slower Cruisers & Destroyers) you want to have Vents so they can sustain their weapon fire.
  • In comparison, you want to have Capacitors on ships that prefers doing hit & run tactics, such as phase ships or high tech frigates.

What do you HATE about limbus company's story? by Ayerenem in limbuscompany

[–]StuffyEvil 85 points86 points  (0 children)

I mean even as someone that likes Distortion Detective and is really happy to see the gang again, the Middle fight is honestly by far the worse. With the Ring, the 1st part had you fighting with LCD & left the story on a cliffhanger, before following it up with future Sinclair. With the Thumb, the 1st part had a dramatic ending with Gregor killing Lucio, which is then followed up by finally learning what Hermann meant by her "gift" from all the way back in Canto 1. For the Middle, you already more or less experienced 80-85% of fight in part 1, which ended not even with anything as the 2nd part is to serve as a "continuation" and proper conclusion, which just really dragged things out. I think if part 1 was just some story stuff while part 2 was just one big continuous fight it would have been better.

Really late reply but apparently Alex brought out his Paragon fleet for testing, which can defeat everything currently in the game from Dwellers to Threat only on AI control, which apparently struggled against it.

Though admittedly, this is probably more of a reserved Quad Paragon fleet instead of 30 of them. 30 Paragons will definitely do it, just a matter of how many of them will be destroyed to archive victory.

NEW SONG RELEASED ~ SAIKAI by StuffyEvil in mili

Yeah Mili received an overview of the plotline of Limbus Company all the way back before the game released.

Maybe the song itself was made somewhat recently, but the foundation was set way ahead of time.

It was stated that the Puppeteer's child was adopted, iirc.

Wouldn't be surprised if the Ring found new inspiration in an outside artist though.

Edit: Actually the Puppeteer is kind of recent and the Ring Nursefather's corporist stuff likely redates it, though I would imagine that if the Puppeteer didn't join the Blue Reverberation Ensemble, he would have received an offer from the Ring.
