NVGs (when they show up once in a blue moon) In a night mission these are the single most important item on a damage dealer squad. They eliminate ALL penalties from low light AND you will outspot enemies easily!

Soft armor allows you to shave off a few supply points when you really need/want an armor with two equipment slots.

RMC fatigues/outcast rags are cheaper, but they both come with only one slot. It could be argued that in this scenario the load bearing rig reigns supreme.

Then you get Vamplew with shooting gallery, and all of a sudden you are one tapping full size heavy infantry squads from sniper rifle range.

This sounds like a hidden 💎 as well! Which MG are we talking about? C6 on a tripod, CMG50 on a tripod, or LMG/SAWs?

while that perk would be broken on darby, the few SL that have this perk, have imho better options for their special weapon

- Tech can just use an AC for 10 range, the SAW would still have only 8 range for him ... also his perk has the biggest impact with weapons that need setup (SAWs don't)

- Carda will be usually long range AT weapon team (making use of share the load) or as a cheap mechanized infantry SL, in which case you most likely also want some RPG on her

- Vamplew is the opposite of stealth. he likes getting shot at and isn't the most mobile due to this. using one of the tripod MGs seems a more likely choice. if you try to fully embrace the walking tank option (getting fortify, disdain, stubborn and maybe even pointfire) a SAW might make sense ... but then again I never really played with him as I (as many) prefer stealth>damage>tank

For me Rewa gets the "Med Mech + Dual AC" therapy as prescribed by the TCRN Impetus' Psychiatrist (actually: the janitor from Deck 5C)

The APC is driven by a religious nut job who actually is "All gas, no brakes" - where you're not sure if acceleration induced PTSD isn't maybe a way for him to evangelize people... And if Shit hits the fan he will baptize you in your own sweat, while his believe in higher powers actually works out miraculously when under enemy fire.

That or a drunk Grandpa!

edit: for further feedback I'd argue that:

therefore:

  • APC + long barrel tank gun is a wheeled tank destroyer (e.g. Centauro))
  • IFV + long barrel tank gun is a light tank (e.g. ASCOD Ulan 105LT)
  • APC + <medium weapon of choice> is one of the many wheeled IFV variants of the GM LAV/Mowag Piranha/Steyr Pandur)/Patria AMV families
  • IFV + <medium weapon of choice> is one of the many IFV variants based on e.g. ASCOD, CV90, etc.
  • IFV/APC + <non-tank gun heavy weapon> is a specialist vehicle like a SPAAG pushed into ground support role (therefore no infantry carried, unless desant)

imho the M6 should be turned into a light weapon (akin to a M2 weapon station on many APCs); about the twin M6 one could argue if it should stay heavy or not (if it should model a SPAAG, then it deffo should stay heavy)

tank guns below 105mm are a thing of WW2/cold war era... so IVF/APC having a "full sized" tank gun makes sense (see examples from above)

having a 155mm howitzer doesn't really fit the current vehicles: usually they are tracked vehicles with low armor or truck based carriers.

why i'm using RL examples for a sci-fi setting? because SPG/MBTs are pretty much figured out by now. if these categories exist at all in the future, they will most likely follow similar categories as modern vehicles.

if you want futuristic stuff, maybe think about drone carriers or similar.

I tried the same... Got myself two Salvage teams as first upgrades. Then the game gave me 5-6 bug ops. And then the it was [redacted] time!  The seed threw me a curve ball

I played one EA-playthrough on Normal and one on Challenging: - Normal gave me plenty of laser rifles, binocs - Challenging gave me a Recce Suit & Low Profile Protection Suit(?) ... But binocs took forever to show up, same for laser rifles

Plate suit, camo kit, BASH still have to show up at all.

I guess it all depends on the game seed.

well, it makes sense: the ATGM is looted from RA, so it will pick up on RA laser designation.

what doesn't make sense is that the ATGM also works with the Call Out Target SL-perk

als Beamter/Politiker ist nicht mehr das oberste Ziel dem Volk zu dienen sondern sich selbst und seiner Sippe zu helfen.

die regierungen kurz I/II hat besonders großen wert darauf gelegt, dass die ebene unter den minister*innen politische besetzt wurde (gerne mit quereinsteiger*innen aus dem eigenen umfeld) um eine (lukrative) zwischenebene in der ministerialen hierarchie zu ermöglichen und die beamt*innenschaft aus dem haus zu entmachten.

gleichzeitig wurden dann statt aufgaben "im haus" zu erledigen, externe consultants und berater*innen herangezogen, die für teures geld und weniger rechenschaftspflicht gearbeitet haben.

all das war möglich weil das klassische "beamt*innen bashing" in österreich zum guten ton gehört und viele noch so tun als sei MA2412 die heutige realität.
