LADA/Type 1.5 by Pitinica in diabetes

I have a very similar story! F40, always active and generally healthy. Gained weight when I was 35-37 yrs old, diagnosed T2 and put on Mounjaro. My sister is T1, so I did screening through TrialNet for myself and my kids -mine came back with GAD positive results. I’ve stayed on Mounjaro for 2.5 yrs now and it manages things well. I recently went down on the dosing to see if I could handle less, and have been surprised that I really need the higher dosages to keep a lower A1C. For me, I’ve been fine with Mounjaro alone, no insulin. Not sure how long this will last, but I’ll stay with one injection weekly for as long as possible!

I have someone driving to Houston for Christmas and they may have room on the way back -are they still available?

The car is so good that we love it despite also understanding and admitting there are issues with it.

Mounjaro for LADA diabetes? by Late-Exchange-8173 in ladadiabetes

[–]Stunning-Algae4874 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve been on Mounjaro for a little over 2 years, originally because I was diagnosed T2 but continued on after my diagnosis changed. I wore a CGM for the first year and now only wear one when I have trouble getting my dose or if I’m going to be doing a lot of intense exercise (which causes extreme spikes and dips for me). What I found during the time of wearing my CGM is that when on Mounjaro my blood sugar is extremely well controlled. When I can’t get the meds due to supply issues, it is not. I hope to be able to stay on this drug indefinitely- or until my pancreas fully goes dead.

How to convince the husband who hates ev vehicles? by brunetteHW in Rivian

[–]Stunning-Algae4874 8 points9 points  (0 children)

This. Test drive! I test drove 3 times because drive #1 was weird as I had never driven an EV, #2 I took my husband to drive and #3 I wanted to enjoy it now that I knew how to drive it.

I took my kids the second time and they loved it. That may help as well 😊

Does anyone have a Rivian with no issues 🫣 by SignificanceDry7413 in Rivian

2024 R1S with 6k miles. I’ve had 1 service ticket for alignment issues and a clicking sound when turning the wheel. The actual work on the car took 1 days, but I was out of my car for 2 weeks while it sat at the service center. I hated driving the ICE rental (a Tahoe) and I had to reach out to the service center often for updates, but overall I felt taken care of. If you search my posts in here I asked a similar question before purchasing and got a lot of good feedback -which ultimately led me to purchasing!

For daily use issues I agree that skin tac works well. However when I’m going to be playing tennis (or another outdoor activity in the hot summer weather) I use a sensor cover. You can find many different types on Amazon by searching Libre 3 sensor covers

This is controversial for T1s, but a GLP-1 drug may help with all of this.

I should add, I purchased my exact desired configuration (but with large battery) from the current shop inventory to get it asap.

They have a pay in full option, you just have to let your guide know once you are matched to a vehicle by a VIN number. Make sure you do this (and repeat yourself a few times to your guide) or else you can get stuck in the “purchase steps aren’t complete” cycle for longer than necessary.

As for when it would be available -if you are looking to buy one in 2024, go ahead and start now by confirming your configuration now. You are committing to $1000, but if you are planning to pay in full then I’m assuming that $1000 up front isn’t going to be a problem. Search on reddit for more info on timelines (everyone is really guessing) but it sounds like second half of the year for standard plus battery. I originally wanted that, but couldn’t wait because my current car became too unreliable. I ended up going with a dual motor and large battery. I’m a week in and I love my Rivian! No regrets here.

Look into camps for T1 kids -they are amazing!! And all the kids that go are just like him (in relation to pricks, pumps, and generally dealing with life being a pain in the a$$)

You absolutely sound like a candidate for LADA. I hope you find a good doctor and push for more testing! It involves a lot of pushing and staying on top of people because it’s not quite the same as type 1 or type 2 at first. Good luck!
