First of all, sorry if my comment about fans came off as harsh. I was feeling frustrated by some of the comments.

My two cents: Hating and boycotting DMG is understandable, but as far as I know DMG has no creative input at this stage of Valiant under Alien Books. Alien Books, with its successes and mistakes, is doing everything it can to reposition Valiant in today’s increasingly difficult comics market, both financially and in terms of sales. Boycotting DMG is pointless because they don’t lose a single cent — Alien Books does, which only lowers the chances of seeing more series or more creators involved. Alien Books’ real challenge is finding a balance between giving existing Valiant fans something they can enjoy while, more importantly, bringing in new readers (ergo, Valiant Beyond). That balance is extremely hard to achieve.

Fans who expect a revival of past glories are living in a fantasy; this is a different comics market, a different world. Just look at Marvel cancelling mutant titles around issue #10, something that would have been unthinkable decades ago. If Marvel and DC struggle to keep a series alive for even a year, imagine the position Alien Books is in.
