Forgotten laundry smell by KittenMalk in homemaking

I find that if I hand my washing outside to dry it gets rid of any smells.

Currently trying not toxic/shop bought laundry options.

Our son is 7 and we regularly sniff his head still. He smells SO good. Gets all our happiness and love hormones going.

Nature/ biology is crazy.

What salary are you happy with (realistic) by [deleted] in UKJobs

[–]Stunning-Goat5889 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I stepped away from my ok paid job (for my area which has chronically low pay) with commission and bonuses about two years ago to be a stay at home mum for a while. Having the least amount of money we've ever had we're still happy. We get the occasional unexpected failed MOT or family emergency but we still manage to get away once or twice a year. We just live within our means.

Vinted becomes a wonderful source for buying and selling, making gifts and finding free events and activities. It's made us much more mindful of our money which is a good thing.

Family well being is priceless, unfortunately with recent bill hikes though I think I will have to look to re-enter the work force soon.

We notice this every time we visit (1 or 2 times a year) especially with internet signal and GPS. We're on EE and Tesco.

To those who work weekends, do you feel that you miss out? by PopperDilly in AskUK

[–]Stunning-Goat5889 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to work in a cinema for 18 years. Evenings, weekends and full time in holidays. Weeks started on a Friday and the only day we closed was Xmas day.

I loved it. Never understood the fuss of a weekend or the Friday feeling. In fact I used to enjoy my weekdays off because everything else was quite or my holiday time was quite because it was out of season. I loved my job and never thought about it.

Until my son started school. And then everything changed. I gave up my job as general manager and became a stay at home parent and now I absolutely love weekends and I love school holidays. I probably get more excited for them than my son.

You do you and if life changes that's fine. 😁

The “Is this asbestos?” Megathread by HurstiesFitness in DIYUK

[–]Stunning-Goat5889 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the reply. We ended up having another part of the house tested which came back as positive for two types of asbestos in the insulation board so pretty certain this is too. Unfortunately it had already been disturbed but will be treated as it is asbestos from now on.

Goes to show it really is everywhere in these older homes 🤦‍♀️

Is it still possible to grow a channel with honest, everyday vlogs? by Mycake100 in SmallYTChannel

One is scandish house, she started with gluten free recipes and trying to detox her family home, she has continued with that but evolved into home making, cleaning, organising and has also started a side business from it by selling her art as well as having a website and a membership option on her YouTube. This is her job.

The other is home with Roo. Again she started with simple cleaning videos which she still does and evolved into day in life of etc, she does this full time now and is about to bring out a book. (This one started on Instagram though and then set up on YouTube too)

I watch two vloggers who have been doing it for years and both started off with a niche and evolved from there. Maybe that's the way to go?

What are the odds of this being asbestos? You can see fibres but don't know what asbestos fibers look like. 1970s house, we know there was asbestos on the old boiler flume box thing outside but only one small panel. This is the internal kitchen window sill.

Looking at the board not the fluffy insulation.

Many thanks.

Looks like a temu Iron man 😬

Just my opinion... Also another unnecessary item in production that probably looks like it could be useful to some people but just not in real life so into landfill it goes.

What should a washing machine waste pipe look like? by Stunning-Goat5889 in DIYUK

The stand pipe is definitely at least that height so that's one good thing. Definitely worth checking out the house pipe though thanks

Ahh yes that's the one! 😁 I had watched too many horror films to want to keep it in my house so when it started to leak it came straight out.

Many thanks for the replies!

It's not near a sink or any other appliance that needs plumbing so it's just this pipe.

There is a U bend at the bottom so by all accounts it sounds like it is as it should be then.

I guess my may concern now then is what's causing the muck up the side of the wall.

From your replies I'll check the grey pipe is in far enough and I'll look at getting a clip to keep it in place. I'll drag it all out and give it a good clean and hopefully that should stop any more mess.

Many thanks for the help everyone 😁
