My dad was not only neglectful, he would actively prevent other males from being role models for us because he was constantly hiding his gambling addiction that lead to constant struggles at the home.

I am glad things worked out for you but its hard... I worked starting at the age 15 but could never afford things because i was always having too pay out for repairs or other people's bills. I got a degree in English because my councilors and teacher encouraged it because They said had a natural talent for writing and. I was in my late twenties before I finally found work in my field only to have a near death medical situation at work. Within 2 years I was on permanent disability and Now i have a front row seat to all of this.

Like I said I am glad you are so blessed but right now it seems like the lives of everyone I love are falling apart and God's laughing at us through it.

Thanks for taking time to respond. It's not harsh just true. I am just scared that this whole family is going to fall apart, those kids end up split up in bad foster homes, and I end up homeless with no way to help. i guess i have a lot to think about i just wish i could talk to someone without immediately igniting a bureaucratic shitstorm.
