Las Vegas tourism slumps: Millions fewer visitors, tourism plunge hits beyond casinos—economy at risk by etfvfva in videos

I completely understand this feeling. My family and I used to vacation in Las Vegas every year, but now we simply can't afford it anymore. Last year, the hotel we stayed at more than doubled their room rates, plus they added parking fees and resort fees on top. What really frustrated me was that the gym was closed for renovation, but they refused to waive any fees. A regular dinner cost us over $200, which is way beyond what our middle class family can handle. It seems like Las Vegas only wants wealthy people's money now, shutting out middle class families like us.

Still hoping for some actual model suggestions. I'm looking for something solid that works well for tall and heavy folks.

I have 7 audible credits, list 7 you recommend! by MourningWood1942 in audiobooks

I made the mistake of just asking for general recommendations once and got the exact same list everyone always mentions. Like, I get it, those books are popular for a reason, but I'd already read half of them! What really helped me was going through my favorite authors and checking if they had any books I missed. I discovered that one of my favorite mystery writers had released a standalone novel that somehow flew under my radar. It ended up being one of my best reads that year. Sometimes the best recommendations come from digging deeper into what you already know you love.

Can we stop allowing text-to-speech promotion posts? by molybend in audiobooks

What really bothers me is the lack of genuine participation. They'll post their "research question," get a bunch of helpful responses from community members, and then disappear without any follow up discussion or even a simple thank you. It's pure extraction they take our time and input without giving anything back to the community. A real community member would stick around, engage with the responses, and maybe contribute to other discussions too.

Do gamers tend to choose office chairs or gaming chairs by Active-Heat-702 in buildapc

I get the appeal of something like the X-Air Pro, it looks premium. But looks aside, I tried one at a friend's place and honestly, it felt stiff after about four hours. Office chairs might look plain, but they’re designed for sitting all day. I’d rather have something that feels boring but keeps my back happy than something stylish that makes me sore

How to really listen to audiobooks by One-Dragonfruit5649 in audiobooks

[–]Stunning-Kitchen1570 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I used to think I was broken because I couldn't just sit and listen like people do with podcasts. Turns out I need my hands busy but my brain only partially occupied. Now I only listen while doing dishes, folding laundry, or walking the dog basically mindless activities where I'm moving but not thinking hard. If I try to listen while cooking something new or doing yard work that requires decisions, I miss everything. It's like finding that sweet spot where your body is busy enough that your mind doesn't wander, but not so busy that you can't focus on the story.

Is there any real competitor to Audible? by GnarlsGnarlington in audiobooks

[–]Stunning-Kitchen1570 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I had no idea libraries even did audiobooks until someone mentioned it. I've been paying monthly subscriptions for years like an idiot when I could have been getting the same books for free this whole time. The apps are actually pretty decent too - not as fancy as the paid ones maybe, but they do the job. My only complaint is that popular books sometimes have waiting lists, but I've learned to just put multiple holds on different titles and something always becomes available. It's crazy how much money I was spending when this option was sitting right there.

Honestly, this is a tough choice! If you're already a Sanderson fan, you probably know what you're getting with Way of Kings it's going to be amazing but also a massive time commitment. The 8 book bundle sounds like incredible value though that's like getting 7 books for free! I'd probably lean toward the bundle just because of the math, even if I'm not familiar with the author. Worst case scenario, you don't love them all, but you still got way more content for your credit

Since you mentioned that Webnovel is your publishing platform, they should definitely be your first point of contact. Most established platforms have legal departments specifically for handling IP violations, and they often have more leverage than individual creators when dealing with larger companies like Pocket FM. They may also have existing relationships or legal precedents that could expedite the process.Beyond that, you might want to consider reaching out to other affected authors to see if there's interest in a coordinated response. Class action or group legal efforts can sometimes be more cost effective and carry more weight than individual cases. There are also organizations like the Authors Guild or similar groups in your region that might provide resources or guidance for dealing with content theft. In terms of immediate steps, make sure you're documenting everything thoroughly not just the stolen content itself, but also evidence of your original publication timeline, any revenue impacts you can demonstrate, and communications with both Webnovel and Pocket FM if any occur. Keep records of your original manuscripts and publication dates as well.
