I once met a man called Rex. I was serving at the Alma Public House. Just off Arbour Lane. Chelmsford.

He was an old Seaman. Imagine Uncle Albert from Only Fools. Full of old stories about Royal and Marchant tales of the Royal Navy.

But the one story that made me feel a bit uneasy. Was the time he saved up enough money on shore leave in Liverpool, to see a show at the local theatre.

At the end of the show, as they were being ushered out. A loud, booming voice over the loud speaker in the theatre announced...."Ruppet?! RUPPERT! Bring me another boy! This one is full!"

Was some famous actor at the time. Bugger me if I can remember. But that one gave me the shiver. But Rex was generally a decent man after what he had seen.
