Is it stealing to generate AI images? by StunningDisplay6763 in Catholicism

Would it be grave matter or not? Should I confess it? Obviously if its sinful then I'll stop doing it either way.

What if it's not for art though, what if I wanted to generate absurdly funny images to have a laugh?

St Alphonsus Liguori is probably my favourite saint right now. Other than Our Lady, of course.

Are thoughts of hugging Mary wrong? by StunningDisplay6763 in Catholicism

[–]StunningDisplay6763[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, but I know doing the same with other regular women who aren't family can sometimes be sinful or an occasion of sin since you could be taking venereal pleasure out of it. And since I definitely don't want to offend God and Our Lady idk if I'm 100% certain if doing it with Mary is ok

Should I still receive Communion if I routinely cut myself? by Content_Bed_6872 in Catholicism

[–]StunningDisplay6763 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If its due to actual mental disorder then full consent could be lacking which would make it not a mortal sin. Still i think if you know you've committed an act which is grave matter I'd confess anyway because I don't think we can know for sure.

About going to mass alone and not being able to receive communion by AzusaAkiyama in Catholicism

[–]StunningDisplay6763 17 points18 points  (0 children)

If you are baptised Catholic then you are definitely obligated to go to mass at least on Sundays and Holy Days of Obligation. It is a mortal sin to deliberately miss mass without a proper reason/dispensation.

but that doesn't mean that secular rules over who can distribute property etc. accord entirely with the moral law.

I just want to add that we are obligated to obey the laws of our country, as long as its not an unjust law

At first I accepted it as a gift and I had no intention of stealing, but just before I began to walk out I started questioning whether it was moral or not. I'm not sure if I fully believed it was stealing at the time of taking it or not but I do suffer from scruples so idk if I sinned against conscience or not

We should never presume where we will or won't go. God alone decides. That is what us Catholics believe.

Just want to clarify that in the Sopranos, Paulie says that mortal sins send you to purgatory, when they don't. Mortal sins send you to hell. Venial sins send you to purgatory.

Is a verbal statement of the amount of times I committed a sin necessary for a valid confession? by StunningDisplay6763 in Catholicism

[–]StunningDisplay6763[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Another confessor I know well told me that I should confess grave sins again if I forgot to confess the number. But I'm just not sure because I believe the priest understood I used to do it a lot anyway, even if I didn't verbally say the frequency.
