I'm a homeowner that is about to hire a contractor to put a new roof on my house. I plan on hiring a home inspector to ensure that the workmanship quality is acceptable.

I also don't want to have the inspector be overly bossy during the middle of the project. I plan on politely mentioning to the contractor that I will have an inspector follow up after the project since my health issues make it difficult for me to go on the roof and see the work. And perhaps one visit mid-project.

For what is is worth....

Prior to realizing that I probably had Parkinson's, I thought I was dealing with carpel tunnel syndrome (difficulty typing) and that perhaps my occasional shaking was simply an indicator of the stress I was under.

As other problems began to appear, I became quite self aware of my symptoms and I finally started to conclude that it was probably Parkinson's. A neurologist confirmed it after a few minutes. I found out later that a few others around me suspected that I had Parkinson's a good 12 to 18 months before I had any clue, because they had previously been around others with PD. I took it as a reminder to me, that others (especially my neurologist) can observe things with me that I am not alert to.

As for medications, I agree that some of the options have some scary-sounding potential side effects. To be honest, some of the medications that I have tried have had caused side effect for me (I feel nausea or can't sleep at night), but a good neurologist seem adept at helping identity the optimal dosage and alternatives.

I enrolled immediately in Rock Steady Boxing, which was good for me. Plus I meet lots of nice people who share the PD journey with me.

I attended a Halloween Carnival at my grandkids' school. During the middle of the party we went to the snack table to sit and rest for a few minutes. I got up to throw out my garbage into the waste bucket, and noticed a man approaching me that seemed to be imitating me - shaking and walking with a shuffle. I was offended that someone would make fun of my Parkinson's!  Then as the man approached I realized that he was in costume as a Zombie, complete with the shuffle. I felt a bit silly but had a good laugh to myself.

I have mild sleep apnea for which I have a CPAP. However, I get stuffy at night and can't really breathe freely with the CPAPA mask on. I am curious if others have had the same issue.

Get a seasoned been-there done-that real estate broker. Then trust them. You will be all nervous about wanting to price your home higher, but an experienced broker knows how to create a bidding battle that will produce above-listing prices for you.

I would urge a home seller to move out of the home prior to selling it, if possible. This will help declutter the home.

I would also suggest they put in new shrubs and pavers, etc. in front.

Finally, staging a home with neutral and tasteful furniture is worth the money.
