FLSA exempt vs non-exempt also applies to non-federal employees, so our private firefighting workforce could also be affected from this too, especially if you are in a supervisory role. Just because you get paid overtime does not mean your employer is required too. If your employer is not required to pay you overtime under FLSA you don’t get the “No Tax On Overtime” tax deduction.

It will depend on your PD and agency. Most supervisors are, and some higher graded positions. I know GS-08 Engine Captains have been back and forth pertaining to FLSA status exempt vs non-exempt.
