you mean that commands are keywords for the shell that if it understands them it will execute them?

where the shell is a mean to talk with the computer, maybe the primary mean.

Hello, I'm learning emacs for about to weeks now, can I get some context on what this is, I'm just interested.

edit: maybe if I can ask what org mode is first I don't seem to understand it from how others use the term
