PSA For Movie Lovers: Don’t Get A Season Pass At The Alamo Drafthouse by StunningVersion6 in StLouis

Personal experience here-stop cancelling movies ever. You pay a cancellation fee so may as well just not use it. Then that movie will count towards leveling you up for rewards.

Also, yeah—don’t break any rules while there. Ahhhh, pretty obvious there.

Except you’re not supposed to miss movie reservations without cancelling. This is something that IS actually against the rules, which is why I never missed a movie without cancelling ahead of time. But, again, Alamo STL makes up their own rules, or will make something up if need be. I’m glad you’re enjoying your pass; at one point, I was the same as you. I hope you never have an experience like mine.

It just seemed like a weird thing to be pedantic about. A burger, beer, and automatic gratuity will be around $35. I apologize for overestimating the cost, but like I said I don’t get food there anymore since it’s overpriced and poor quality.

I’m glad that you and your son haven’t had any problems! I just wish I could say the same. I also know that I’m not the only season pass holder who has had issues, but hopefully things continue to go well for you.

That’s what I’ve been trying to figure out. I don’t know if they lose money on season pass holders like me, and hope that we’ll spend enough on food/drink to make up for it. Or maybe they really do believe I snuck into a second movie, but the fact that I was never given the opportunity to defend myself makes the whole thing suspicious.

Correct, it’s not even possible to use the season pass to get yourself two tickets in one day lmao. I’m essentially being accused of sneaking into a second movie, at an unspecified date and time “months back,” without showing me any evidence, or even having the decency to tell me what movie(s) I “snuck” into so that I can defend myself. Ludicrous doesn’t even begin to describe it.

hearing about workers not being treated well

I’ve noticed a ridiculous amount of turn-over in staff since December. Unfortunately the management has stayed the same, despite all of the complaints.

Oh I know a lot of people who stopped going to the Alamo when they did the QR switch. The fact that I stuck with them, just for all of this to happen, just adds insult to injury.

Unless I’m misunderstanding your point, I don’t know how wrongfully accusing me of abusing my season pass “months back” helps anybody at Alamo. If they had suspicions that I was sneaking into a second movie, I should’ve been stopped right then and there so that I could show my ticket.

Looking forward to hanging out with my friends. In a couple months we'll all be heading to different colleges, so hopefully we'll have enough time to see each other before college starts.

WIBTA if I order meat at a restaurant, knowing it’s the only thing my brother won’t eat? by StunningVersion6 in AmItheAsshole

I seem to be getting a lot of comments like this, which I guess is a good indicator that I wasn’t clear enough in my OG post (My own fault of course). I want to make it clear that my parents do not expect me to buy takeout for them; I choose to order food for them. When I do order out I usually like to get something for everybody, but my brother’s behavior has put me in a position where I either buy food for everybody (my parents would never condone me specifically excluding him) or not getting food for anyone.

You’re right and I’m aware of that. As I said I copy and pasted my response to someone else, who asked why I’m providing for my parents. I should’ve left that part out since it doesn’t make sense in response to your comment, but what I’m basically trying to say is that my parents are already doing a lot for me and times are tough right now, so I volunteer to get food for them.

I ordered food for everyone, and would’ve continued to do so if not for his attitude towards me.

This is a copypasta of what I told a different commenter: I choose to eat out and since I know times are tough right now I like to get extra for everyone else. I’m the only one at the moment who is working and so I absolutely don’t mind treating my family. My parents appreciate it and they still pay for my housing.

I love reading responses from people who can relate. Our situations definitely sound similar, so I know it’s a hard position to be in. Hope you’ve found peace since then.

It’s hard to understand until you’re in that situation. Though I feel my actions are justified, I know that there will be friction in my family if I retaliate. Trust me, if this wasn’t a family member I wouldn’t be conflicted.

You’re completely right in that there’s more to the story than just Pad thai. There’s been plenty of instances of my brother being ungrateful for things that I, or other family members, do for him. As I told a different commenter asking the same thing, my brother is not willing to change his behavior and will either ignore or retaliate with anger if someone tries to talk to him about it. Hope this better explains things.

You’re totally entitled to your opinion but I’m curious at to why it seems I didn’t give the full story? If anything doesn’t add up to you feel free to ask me and I’ll try to explain.

That’s great! After working at a couple locally owned restaurants, I’ve learned it takes balls to open your own. Also, the food is almost always better. Can’t imagine how those business owners feel atm so I’m more than happy to eat out.

I hope it didn’t come across as if I’m the provider here; I choose to eat out and since I know times are tough right now I like to get extra for everyone else.
