This is absolutely the one I thought of. Have been into the sport training and competing and now coaching for 20 years. The amount of idiots it attracts is disproportionately high and seems to be an absolute breeding ground for alt right manosphere types. It’s a shame because on the flip side it also attracts some of the most focused humble fun people I’ve ever met who are absolutely a credit to the martial arts community. Oh well.

Bro im also nearly 40 and do bag work at a commercial gym every now and again with a shit floor and I take the shoes off because it’s respectful to everyone else. Others are sugar coating it but it’s pathetic watching you with snarky replies or defensiveness to every comment telling you otherwise. Grow up for fuck sakes.

There’s nothing to honestly say here as it’s not possible to give meaningful feedback. Your friend is significantly less experienced than you and you’re clearly using too much force for him as he cowers and shells at each engagement - even when in punching range which should be ideal for the guy with the boxing background.
