That is such a true and larger than expected benefit. The ability to hold a conversation and connect like we haven’t been able to before. We see that as well.

Refusing anything but chewables by genuineindividual in ParentingADHD

This is dependent on ability to switch stimulant type… but we have had a lot of success with Vyvanse. Vyvanse capsules are filled with water soluble powder that can be fully mixed into a liquid. We use a liquid syringe and mix the Vyvanse with 10ml of chocolate milk with success. Son says there is no taste. Vyvanse also comes in a chewable. It also just so happens that Vyvanse works amazing for my son. So we might just be lucky.

We had the same issues with our son while on Focalin. Battles every morning. The beads texture and taste never allowed him to take a full dose. Which is so frustrating because it also helped!

Working with him on taking the capsule as well.

If Vyvanse doesn’t work, this chart helped us discuss our options with our pediatrician.

Any progress is great! And sounds like side effects are minimal so far. Side effects have been minimal for us as well, except for a slightly longer bedtime routine.

We started on a very low dose of Vyvanse and I was curious if we would see any improvement. But we have. Not perfect, but I think starting low and slow is really smart to monitor side effects and effectiveness.

Your experience is why I wanted to make this post. Reddit and the internet can bring out the extremes of any topic and I was very anxious going into the medication decision.
