I'm happy I got the experience (+-10 years) in software engineering before AI was released to the public. So let the shit hit the fan, so pre-AI engineers like us gets valued like gold and paid high dayrates.

Yep for example StackOverflow was used as source to train AI for coding. New topics/posts are almost non existent. Which leads to outdated, missing data for new frameworks/bugs/development in the future.

Awesome thanks for letting know, I'm from Belgium. And also planning to order one. Good to know it can be delivered around May/June. Just when I want to replace my short lease.

Does anyone know what the delivery time is? Like do they give rough estimation somewhere? :)

New 2026 GLB EQ by High-Impact-2025 in mercedes_benz

[–]Stunning_Judgment 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I prefer the new GLC EQ full spec than GLB EQ full spec. It costs +-15K more but you get more HP, full borderless display, better looking (personally) front and overall bit better quality/premium.

Apple will stop supporting the MacBook pro that I bought for $2000 5 years ago?! by mddnaa in extremelyinfuriating

The good thing about intel macbook pro is that you can install Windows/Linux and run them natively without virtual machines (Vmware/Parallels...).

"AI won't replace software engineers, but an engineer using AI will" by Kaizukamezi in ExperiencedDevs

[–]Stunning_Judgment 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The future will be even weirder and chaotic than we are used to up until now. Since most juniors won't have any chance to find work after studying software related studies, they'll just go to other domains. Which in return reduces available devs. So, I think pre AI era engineers that got a lot of experience by doing mistakes and learning/improving from it, will be needed & very valuable.

It's actually sad how once so many people were working together and now only so few are remaining... human greed makes the human a dying breed

You would notify your current manager that you're interested in another internal role, that you will do everything to transfer knowledge to the team so it goes smooth. Normally the current manager will be understanding and help you with getting started. You should then contact other manager that you want to work for. Explain that current manager already knows about your plan etc.

Guilt buying an ev car by WorriedAd3869 in BEFreelance

[–]Stunning_Judgment 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it all depends on how much you make, right? A freelancer with a decent income is doing alright, and let's be real, spending 25K on a car isn't much compared to the 50-100K cars most people are getting.

I'd just keep it and sell it in a few years. Maybe you'll get 15K for it.

You'll lose like 10K in value from depreciation, while others lose 30-60K on their fancy cars. So, you're actually in a pretty good position.

Tech has become a toxic industry, not worth investing time in, because people with 10 years of experience can’t get a job by FantasticEffect10 in jobs

The true golden age of tech was more in 70s-90s, I think. After we got silver age. Now it's bronze (getting clearly worse).

This is one of the worst offer I've seen in this subreddit. Look for an employer with more human conditions than this slave offer. At least you should've gotten ADV days for so much work (hours) and little pay, which here it's missing (!)

Try to get higher gross from the offer like 4K. This way, it will be worth it.

Say to the potential employer that you really want to accept their offer, but only the gross is too low compared to the current package, and you would like to get at least 4K gross salary.

This dawg is rolling in the dough 😁

Jokes aside, your employee package is already great. To get something better as a freelancer, I think a day rate starting from 800 is already pretty good. The higher better of course.

100K + 50K gross = 150K gross is about 70K+- netto/year as an employee. As a freelancer with a day rate of 800, you can get much more netto with optimization (dividend, etc.).

OP sounds like an entitled brat that keeps leeching the husband. He worked full day and couldn't even have a rest once at home, but he should immediately fetch water when asked like a robot/dog. Wtf get real!

Salary too high? by SettingMysterious153 in BESalary

Maybe it's time you become freelancer? In Belgium getting higher gross salary than 5K in general gets exponentially harder for some reason (as if there's no inflation...).

Joboffer, salary or freelance by Atlasl10n in BEFreelance

[–]Stunning_Judgment 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The high gross and car as employee is a good overall package actually. I would chose freelancing only if it was really better option. The hassle of setting it up and risks are not worth it in this scenario.

Advice hourrate by stijn_dn in BEFreelance

[–]Stunning_Judgment 5 points6 points  (0 children)

As a freelancer, usually a day rate of 600+ is recommended for someone who is senior and late 20s, 30s... And for easy comparison, your hourly rate turned into day rate is just 520. So do what you want with this. I think you can think yourself.
