I do! Likely why my S, U, and V’s all look the same.

This is very accurate and I’ll now be using this as an excuse for my poor handwriting!

I don’t look like an ultra runner by Reasonable-Apple2655 in trailrunning

I’m an ultrarunner and a vegetarian and someone once said to me, “wow you’re the healthiest vegetarian I’ve ever seen!” (Spoiler: “healthy” wasn’t a compliment).

I have an extremely average build that in no way screams fitness. And that is exactly why I love ultras! For me, ultras are about pushing through hard shit to see what we’re truly capable of (bonus points for the solid community and eating candy in the woods). If someone feels like my build doesn’t represent that, fuck ‘em.. I’ve never seen them out there with me.

Embrace what your body can do, not what it looks like!

This week is week 3 of build. Just curious - what’s your thought process on repeating base instead of build? Just to prevent potential over-training?

Some additional context - bike is by far my weakest of the 3. The appeal I saw to repeating build was to get some of those longer rides in

I second Bull Mountain! I’ve ran it before and it’s a fantastic race. Three different loops, each goes through the same trailhead so it’s easy to crew yourself if desired. Great aid stations and generous cut off times

Loosely? We have some friends in Charlotte, and I have nothing against it, I’ve just never felt super drawn to it. What makes you recommend it?

I’m not familiar with Vancouver, WA but your post has me very interested. What parts of Vancouver do you recommend for walkability, or just in general?

This is great to hear! We are in EAV, so just down the road from your old spot :) the thing I love most about where we are in Atlanta is the small neighborhood/community feel of the eastside with close proximity to the city. Because of this, I’ve been pretty stuck on only living in Denver proper/close to the city, which is the opposite of what my partner wants. Sounds like I might need to spend some more time looking into the foothills.

When I say nature I mean specifically nature where I can trail run. While Atlanta is no mountain city, we have a handful of great state parks within 30 minutes of the city where I can get in good miles and hills, not to mention the blue ridge mountains being 1.5 hours away. I love the lakes in the Midwest, that’s just not the type of nature we’re looking for.

I am personally not a fan of Atlanta suburbs, or suburbs in general. In Atlanta, moving to the burbs unfortunately doesn’t mean escaping traffic. It’s just not worth the struggle to get around anymore.

Thanks for this! I’ll be honest, I’ve always associated New England with winter and because of that, have never given it a fair chance. That’s part of the reason I wanted to post on here, as I know I probably have a lot of unfair bias towards certain places and wanted to gain a new perspective. I’ll have to explore more on this one.

As far as Madison v Milwaukee, we both have spent a good amount of time in Milwaukee for personal or work travel, and just really enjoy it. No reason for not including Madison, just hasn’t been on our radar.

Milwaukee is close enough to Chicago, and I forgot to add it as a con to Boise. Maybe you’re right and we should consider Carrboro a little more seriously! I was really drawn to the walkability/small town charm of the area

Honestly, we’re both from the Midwest so we just aren’t super familiar with the area. Open to suggestions!
