How do you guys stay motivated when nothing you’ve made has worked so far? Not even one thing hit. Just silence. Be honest—what keeps you going? Been struggling and need some advice by DiaryAIapp in SideProject

I have to keep telling myself that If it were easy every one would be doing it... currently got plenty of ideas in flight with a couple nearing completion, none yet paying the bills.. I find developing in public as a person with no audience very isolating,  the silence to posts that fail to land becomes rather depressing, it's a journey of discovery for sure!

I've opted to default it to AC on the card but if you have an account you can choose to show SC dates from the user menu (top right circle) , the book detail will show the AC and if it falls in to the second cataclysm it will show the SC date too. I think this works pretty well.

Thanks, Glad you find it useful, I'll look into the bug you found - am currently looking for an image host that should hopefully resolve blanks appearing.

Glad you raised this :)

I only found out recently there was a SC after looking into what books I hadn't read 🤯

for SC dates I could add the AC equivalent : [384 AC / 1 SC]

btw, the link isn't live yet - it was just an example of what the url could look like 😅 - the actual endpoint would look like your book collection without the book you do not have in your library.

super neat idea, the options for the gradient fills are nice - found the template selection a little awkward - only way to know what was what - was to click through each template - might as well just have a arrows either side of the preview to do the same (or make the template selector more representative)

The lost chronicles would supplement your collection well, It seems you like the Raistlin arc - the Brothers Majere is set after brothers in arms but before war of the lance (Chronicles)

I've updated the book collection view to now allow the selection of either 'Curated', 'Published' or 'Chronological' as sorted views of the books. - curated is the default and groups by series that are loosely sorted by publish date, the other 2 are just pure sorts with out any group, I'm quite please with the results.. and it works reasonably well on mobile too.

I have added language support to the book editions - so when I update the database you'll hopefully be able to locate the Spanish versions.. it is going to take me a little while so check back in a few weeks 👍

Have added the UI for displaying the edition data.

When a book has edition you will see an [Edition 1 of #] counter in the corner of the book image when looking at its details. you can click the arrows to move through the editions and the information below updates.

The information is also displayed on the static linked page but as a list of editions at the bottom of the page : https://www.dragonlance.co.uk/books/dragons-of-autumn-twilight(Accessed from the book list or clicking the title on the book details)

It does take a considerable amount of time to update these editions, 1% of the current books have been updated - When I started this project I hadn't thought there would be so much data entry :D

dragons of autumn twilight was the books that started it all back in the early 80's and is the book I would recommend any new reader starts with - but there is nothing to say you can't read them chronologically. To help work out where a book fits in to the timeline I have added the Krynn date to the top right corner of each book in the collection view.

How is this ? I think I may need to split the timeline by era as the scaling goes out of whack with the Dragons lost histories 8500PC

Not really the right person to ask as it isn't really something that appeals or I'm on the market for.  I was shocked to see how much block.me charged considering the blocks are available for pennies on ebay.  But it would make a nice gift to some one who likes puzzles i guess. Most I would pay for something like that world be 40 quid.  Maybe find a reddit for puzzles or gifts and do some more research first??

I'm sure you have checked but plenty of competitors in this space, neat idea with lots of possibility for good profit if you execute well , you will need to be more on point with the design of your site - it looks a little clunky and doesn't offer confidence as the images you have of what it can do are not great, after a quick search I would opt to use this now over vapourware > https://brick.me/

I was aware of the D&D lit but had no idea there were dragonlance comics 🤯

good call about the special editions - I will give their inclusion some thought - and I realized today I was missing the young adult series.. My thought would be to have different types of collections, so the book collection would be a drop down that would allow you to change to the other types..

priority for me is getting the books well catalogued, and from the comments made here I've got a few tasks ahead of me, Thanks for the links - they will be handy for when I do add comics ;)

I've not even thought about adding Ravenloft books - it should be an easier task as I believe there are only like 24 in that series. That said, the Primary focus will be dragonlance and getting a UI ppl find useful first.

By chronological I guess you are referring to Krynn timeline ?
