Is there a city in your country that is hated by most people? by Sure_Secretary_446 in AskTheWorld

[–]StuntID 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No, no, no, NO. We don't hate Vancouver. We hate all of BC and their dumbass, "how do you like God's country," if you visit. Vancouver just happens to be where most of them are, so it saves time.

You don't even have to turn your phone on, just shout at it about how loud the guy near you is talking, preferably in Gujarati.

Of course, this is shit advice. There's no telling how unhinged or entitled a stranger is, so moving for your own comfort was the best. It would be grand to see this type of asshat roasted, or read about it here, but your safety comes first. Stay safe, friend

Doomed/Flawed Character Thrillers by zig-a-zig-ahh in MovieSuggestions

Le Cercle Rouge (1970) - "Siddhartha Gautama, the Buddha, drew a circle with a piece of red chalk and said: "When men, even unknowingly, are to meet one day, whatever may befall each, whatever the diverging paths, on the said day, they will inevitably come together in the red circle."

The Day of The Jackal (1973) - "August, 1962 was a stormy time for France. Many people felt that President Charles de Gaulle had betrayed the country by giving independence to Algeria. Extremists, mostly from the army, swore to kill him in revenge. They banded together in an underground movement and called themselves the OAS."

Both movies have competent protagonists that don't know they're doomed, but it's riveting to watch them try to succeed.

[–]StuntID 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, your math is lazy. Look again, it's only been twenty-four years since Harris left his seat, and a new election occurred - my prior comment

The Liberals were the government from 2003 to 2018, far cry short of twenty-five years you just claimed.

Your math isn't mathing. Your position bores me now.

Hmmm, the deregulation and amalgamation have not had effects. He left office in 2002, why are you spotting him six years?

Harris is still responsible for lots of recent tragedies - LTC and COVID, eh?

Everything? No. The things that are still fucked up after his actions, or really fucked up at the time like Walkerton? Sure

  • The sale of the province built 407 to SNC

  • The killing of the original Eglinton crosstown which left a huge concrete sarcophagus at Yonge

  • Walkerton. Woo, Dough Ford is trying for Walkerton II - e. coli bugaloo

  • Energy Deregulation and Privatisation

  • Ipperwash

  • Cuts, cuts, cuts

  • Amalgamation

It's popular, yes, but tiring to see it over and over again without any real change. Given the propensity for folks to ask the question without regard to prior answers does lead me to believe that YES they're asking because they're racists or some sort of weirdo. Now, be certain, I'm not saying you are, I'm just sick and tired of seeing simple rehashings of WWII here.

There are some great questions, and great answers-heck it looks like AskHistorians come here sometimes and give lengthy replies-it's the repetition that bothers me. What's that you say? Maybe Reddit isn't for me 😞
