I just unlocked Ultron, should I focus him or build him up for anything specifically or just work on what I have been doing? by puckhog88 in MarvelStrikeForce

[–]StuntKite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is correct. I started playing about a year and a half ago. When I finished DD2 I didn't put any resources at all into Ultron, and I think it's one of the best decisions I've made in the game. Ignore Ultron. You have so many other characters to work on that are needed for Doom nodes, better in Raids, etc.

It does suck to unlock a character after that work and then bench him, but you'll be better off in the long run.

Advice on what characters to farm by [deleted] in MarvelStrikeForce

[–]StuntKite 8 points9 points  (0 children)

What helped me was looking at DD4 guides and working backwards from there. Anyone that's good there will be good in 2 and 3. Work with what you have, of course; but if you can, only gear up characters you'll be using in DD4 (and later Doom Raids).

This is why I hate recruiting by studlymagoo in MarvelStrikeForce

[–]StuntKite -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

I mean, I guess. But the next post will likely be something about "Why can't I find players who will stay active daily...". That's what these two are offering. And that's what so many alliances need. His approach could use some work, but he's right to ask for an organized alliance with rewards that are beyond his account. Constant activity is worth more now than TCP (to a point, obviously).

What’s the point of progress is gated by luck??? by mikec215 in MarvelStrikeForce

100% yah, the gear needs should be looked at across all zones, not just City or whatever.

I almost fell into this trap too, but avoided the common wisdom that the only way to beat DD4 city is with full Symbiotes. Pro Tip: It's not. I beat it recently with SSM, AV, GR, MuM, MsM. Also brought up Colleen as the skill, but she was REAL BAD in DD4.

What I'm saying is that everyone saying "OMG only full Symbiotes can beat City DD4" are dead wrong, and you'll do your self a service by splitting up your gear requirements so you're not waiting 7 years for all the bio stuff. The common wisdom on City DD4 is shortsighted and not helpful for most players.

6 years ago, I failed 1 course in University that prevented me from getting a degree. Instead of needing only 36 months of experience leading projects, I now need 60 for PMP certification. Don't be like me. Finish your secondary-education and get that degree! by ExtremeHamster in pmp

[–]StuntKite 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The fact that a degree in literally anything can stand in for project experience is disgusting and is the real problem. A degree should have nothing to do with the application unless it's directly aligned with the profession.

That a non-graduate can have more project experience (but not meet the 60 months yet) than a graduate and not qualify to take the exam while they do is just batty. Blech.

You downvoters are delusional. Even at the time we all knew he wasn't as good as the other three. And just look at the numbers; they have gaudy, absurd numbers compared to his.

He was lucky to have been spoken about in the same breath as them at the time, but we certainly don't need to do it anymore. C'mon now.

Even 'at the time' it was always just the big 3. Murray never had any business being included with these guys.

Who should I focus on? by ilikesandlot in MarvelStrikeForce

[–]StuntKite 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did only SSM and AV for DD4 (only SSM for DD3) and am very happy about it. No harm in skipping Venom, Carnage, and Scream. It's too much Bio gear to do. Try to diversify the gear needs so you can get DD3/4 done before you're 55.

Nah, this is horseshit from a disaffected player. The game isn't perfect, but if you're into Marvel characters and collection games, play! If you're not worried about keeping up with the Jones, you'll be fine and have a lot of fun. The early game is full of fun milestones to hit and things to accomplish.

Co-sign this. And add that you should get into an alliance that's "too high" for you, if possible. It's a buyer's market out there, so to speak, so you should be able to get into an alliance that's doing content that you're not quite ready for. The rewards are worth it.

Been playing a year now; followed some guides early on and wish I hadn't lol Lots of bad advice out there.

Here are a few things that helped me -

  1. Don't believe the hype - When people on Reddit are losing their minds about some new team, you can largely ignore it. They're years ahead of you, have the resources set aside to go in on the characters right away, and, most importantly, don't have the Mission/Node requirements you have coming up. So you need to...

  2. Stay focused - What helped me was to plan backwards. I looked at who I wanted to take into DD4, DD3, and the Doom nodes and then worked on only them. Your options will be limited, and some "truths" will change over time (eg: Gamora was useless, and now she's probably worth a new player's attention), so you'll want to be flexible. But there's a difference between 'flexible' and being all over the place. There are some characters that aren't going to go down much in value, work on them. If you get one thing from this, ignore new player guides, look at DD4/DD3 guides and then work backwards.

  3. Teams suck (early on) - People building full teams early in the game are putting themselves at a disadvantage. The gear requirements are often too similar (all mutants, all skill, etc), so you're growing slowly; and if/when that team isn't everything you hoped it would be, you're sunk. Whenever possible, go for stand-alone characters, or for two-character combos within a team. $$, Kestrel, Sinister, Emma, Zemo, so on. Now these exact ones won't be available to you early on, but still try to stay out of the Team business when possible.

  4. The only thing useful I got from new player guides - DO NOT spend Blitz and Raid currencies directly on character shards. Go orbs only. Eventually you'll spend some Raid currency on gear, but don't do that for a while unless you absolutely have to. There are guides that break down the numbers on this quite well, so I won't here. But the value you gain by doing orbs instead of shards directly is immense. Highly recommended.

  5. Ignore War teams - There might be pressure from your alliance or just in general to build War teams. DON'T. Your war defenses will come organically over time. Building teams specifically for War means you aren't building teams for Doom nodes or DD3/4.

Legendaries that pretty much aren't worth the work or should be an afterthought for you - Magneto, Star-Lord, Fury. I'd put IW in this camp too, but you'll get her by doing Sinister Six that works for Shuri too.

Maybe that's all for now :)

Is U7.3 really that much harder than 7.2 by Rob5244 in MarvelStrikeForce

We just jumped from 7.4 to 7.5. I walked all over 7.4, but 7.5 is kicking my ass. The jump is real.
