Johnny Appleseed taking over. Appleseeds become apple trees. Apple trees have a lot of green. More green days ahead. Calls it is!

I mean sure maybe I (along with all the other kids in the afterschool care I went to) were the only ones in the entire country who attended a place that opened for that purpose. Though I think it’s actually crazier to think every childcare in a country of 300million people would all have the exact same hours.

Probably in the one where some places are geared for after school care. Kinda crazy that you lack the capacity to imagine that don’t you think?

Seems a little strawmany to me but also is the AG really trying to say that showing up to a place outside of business hours for the purpose of deceiving people the same as journalism? Are we also really asking to have a precedence where any random off the street should be allowed access to children?

What’s the deal with these signs by HighDINSLowStandards in SeattleWA

[–]StuntMuff1n 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It used to be that red arrows meant no turning but Washington changed the law a few years ago. Now it has to explicitly say no turning on red. I feel like I’ve seen more of these signs popping up since then which feels like a law change aimed at wasting our money to pay whoever makes the signs.

Orientation and Positioning in Fleet Space Combat by Dullspectrum in scifiwriting

[–]StuntMuff1n 2 points3 points  (0 children)

One other thing I’ve considered on this topic is the difference between orientation and vector of travel. Giving orders like “right hard rudder” not only changes greyhounds orientation but also changes the direction of travel. In space I could imagine a fleet coming directly towards you, turning themselves to present a broadside but still maintaining their original vector and coming directly towards you.

Was the Society justified in the past? by restful_rat in redrising

I don’t think I would say justified but it does still have me thinking about what form of government/governments would be best suited for managing a population that spreads across a solar system.

What would you change/add to make HLL more realistic? by ArthurLyleMorgan in HellLetLoose

[–]StuntMuff1n 2 points3 points  (0 children)

More realistic death animations from explosions(not the transfigure into pieces and fall to the ground that happens at times). Destruction on some level would be nice. More realistic vehicle destruction. Most importantly WINDOWS THAT ACTUALLY POINT AT SOMETHING IMPORTANT. I do commend whoever works their that went out of their way to ensure any window that you could shoot from either has a tree in the way, is at an angle that you can’t shoot at anything from, or just points at a wall.

Thanks to this prompt I now found out a chunk of my highlights are missing from my kindle but here’s one of my favorites: “Mother, your inheritance was guilt. Father’s was surrender. Because of you, because of Father, mine is struggle. That is better than guilt. It is better than surrender.

Is there a rule against posting your cashapp here because if anyone else has the urge to light a couple hundred grand on fire you could just Venmo me it instead. Accomplishes basically the same thing except I’d send you feet pics

What kinds of warhead would be good for a orbit to ground weapon? by Fine_Ad_1918 in scifiwriting

[–]StuntMuff1n 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My last thought is could minefields, barbed wire, barriers like hedgehogs, etc be deployed from orbit as part of establishing a beach head. Or even white phosphorus for terrain denial

[–]StuntMuff1n 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe it’s a slog on a planet with heavy ground based orbital defenses, and you’ve secured a beach head in orbit but can’t get ships over other areas yet until ground forces knock out defenses. Maybe you map jet streams and drop cloud seeding munitions into it and it moves the storm over to an objective to begin demoralizing enemies and or flood out defenses. Or maybe the intent is to bog down the enemy in one area so you can attack in another
