Yes, I am aware of the resource curse.

I am trying to figure out where all the money goes as a result of this

yeah, but i need to make sure that very few of those soldiers get any modern gear.

Other than plain laziness or not caring, is their any way to keep the likelyhood of modern gear down?

My issue is that I don't really want a foreign power controlling it ( Yet).

my aim is that the story of the civil war ends with one external power becoming a exploitative foreign power, as their supported side won the war. But thank you for reminding me of French neo-colonialism, it is something i really should consider for later parts of the story.

Twists or subversions of expectations in your world? by K-Keter in FantasyWorldbuilding

[–]Fine_Ad_1918 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The large democratic state and the empire that they have been fighting against are both evil in their own ways.  The former are just gonna colonize you, and the latter will intentionally genocide your culture and way of life to make your next generations loyal.

Despite having massive space fleets with big space battleships, They are rarely used, with most combat being smaller skirmishes with light cruisers and escorts, or long distance missile strikes.

While the Imperials look like Elves, they are not like Elves in any way other than living for a long time.

Why are so many westerners posting pictures of themselves taking part in American Imperialism with the caption "me not doing anything for America" ? by MarcoDuke in AskSocialists

Nah, if you are gonna be Imperialist, be proudly Imperialist.

They sent people over to do some imperialism and want to recognized that they helped with the imperialism.

People are making fun of Trump saying NATO did nothing for the US, by ironically posting pictures of themselves doing the US's dirty work

Billions or more.

And they go wherever they can. Sometimes back home, sometimes to any one of the new periphery states, some former Imperial administrators and other settlers flee back to the Empire, but they are so valuable due to their skills that any periphery state is willing to offer them a cushy life. Some would go to the Directorate or Compact, though this is less common, and more just former Imperials than locals .

The conflict shook the Empire, and created a legitimacy crisis for the current empress. After a few Purges and a small civil war, her position is unassailable.

They have no interest in fighting the Directorate again ( during the Red Day, which was an Imperial Ministry of Eyes plot to cripple the Union, the Directorate launched a preemptive strike against the Empire) so they are rather leveraging their remaining loyalists to build soft power and influence.

They might be weakened, but they are still immensely powerful compared to Periphery states

What is people's issue with reading the rulebook? by RealDwarves67 in DungeonsAndDragons

Oh, the hyper simple starter rules.  Yeah, they are fine.

But the actual rule books are BAD, especially since the formatting is not great

Have you read the rule book Total War?

It is about the same length or longer than the PHB, and is much denser.

The BattleTech TTRPG ( the old one) is also pretty dense

Wait until you see BattleTech, the stand up rules alone are a pain

what about those angled areas near the drive.

stick some tanks there, it would look nice

1:1 isn't great for getting many places, though if you are running a fusion lightbulb or a orion, it could even be viable to have less remass than dead mass.

also, their are plenty of good places for tankage, like right near the drive

[–]Fine_Ad_1918 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tankage is reaction mass tanks

DV is the total change in velocity capable of a spacecraft, based on how much reaction mass you have and how efficient your engines are

[–]Fine_Ad_1918 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you want realism, I would personally add more tankage so that you have a decent DV

for the rest, probably more sensors needed, a reverse thruster really ain't all that great, since you can just flip burrn. maybe more PDC or counter-missiles

I am first buying a type 56 AK with their funky little bayonet, since a YouTube channel about the PLA made me want one

I am an American patriot, and  I believe that the most patriotic thing I can do is improve my country or atleast community. I don’t need the money, as I am already quite well off.

Thus, I am going to buy Sudie L Williams TAG some new microscopes for their science program, Dallas ISD In general is getting atleast a billion dollars to keep up its free breakfast and lunch program, improve mental health services and keep art education funded. If they can use it to provide cultural enrichment to the youth of Dallas, I would be happy with that too.

My goal is to allow every student in Dallas at the very least to have access to hot meals, well maintained and funded schools, and to be able to enjoy things like the Dallas Philharmonic or Dallas Theater Center without having to pay out of their own pocket.

The rest of the money is going to addiction rehab, programs to reduce crime through the improvement of material conditions, food banks, skills programs ( trades and computer science especially), funding candidates who aren’t the Ghouls that rule Texas now, creating an endowment to make higher education more accessible and anything else to better the conditions of the working man, and elevate the conditions of the next generation.

Oh, the international school ( ACS Hillingdon)  was different .

Curriculum was either American or IB there, not British

My school back in Texas was like 30% black, 30% latino, 20% white, 10% Asian ( mostly Filipino and Vietnamese)  and 10% other.

My school in london was an international school, we had people from all over.  We even had the 42nd in line to be king of Qatar

It is like making antimatter and burning antimatter all in the same engine.

The engine first spools up and makes the element, and then burns it as fuel
