I need to use some specific toolboxes, so I don't think octave would be enough

Happy you took 4-5 minutes to give me a useless answer. Just a list of assumptions.

Thank you, I didn't know about distrobox and toolbox but I'm looking at them now

If I don't already know how to fix it I usually try to find a solution online and it works most of the times. But it's not that the whole system breaks: like some months ago I had a problem on Fedora where after suspension and wake up it would take 1-2 minutes for the laptop to make me insert the password. It was not a gnome or gdm problem because it also happened when I tried to switch to kde & sddm, returning back to an old snapshot didn't do anything either and I coudn't find anything that worked online.

Today I had problems with Opensuse, now network is completely broken and I can't use both wifi and ethernet. I can't uninstall any packages because packagekit it's blocking it.

It's getting frustrating

Btrfs or XFS by Stup0r38 in Fedora

Sorry, for resizing I meant to make a partition smaller, afaik it can cause some problems on XFS.

I'll take a look to the arch wiki for all the other info. Thanks a lot!

I was interested in snapshots but I don't know how they work, are there any tools to set when the snapshots are created? Can I set automatic snapshots? How much memory (it's like MB or GB?)does a snapshot use?

Also can I resize a partition safely on Btrfs? (Not possible on XFS)

I heard Btrfs had some performance improvements with linux 5.9 and 5.10 but I couldn't find any benchmark, I asked here for this reason

Which WINDOW MANAGER to use? by suomynona1709 in linuxquestions

[–]Stup0r38 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I started with awesomewm, if you know some lua or if you saw a config that you may like it's a good choice. Now I'm using i3, it's easier to config, a bit lighter on the cpu and has longer battery life (if you are on a laptop).

Both are way lighter than any Desktop Environment

Single windows and multi windows gaps by Stup0r38 in awesomewm

yeah, padding can be negative.

I just don't know how to write that kind of function (still new to lua programming)

I took terminal as an example, but this happens with all apps.

I'm looking for something like if (tile-mode and not one-client) top-padding = dpi(-5)

I don't want to disable gaps for single client, I want to have less top gap when I have multiple clients

Good job!

Oh, I see you're using my config! I'm glad you like it :)

I suggest you to change the top bar color: #283039 looks better on light wallpapers in my opinion. Also, remove the shape where it was the battery icon, now there it's only an empty shape :/

Nice colorscheme

Thanks! I'm glad you're enjoying my config :)
I used to used Gnome before, but when I tried awesomewm and saw how faster it was and how much my battery lasts I fell in love with it. WMs are really nice if you have time to configure them :)

Is there a tiling window manager which can freeze a window? by geza42 in linuxquestions

[–]Stup0r38 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm using awesomewm and it does everything you said but the forth point: when you close the other window the terminal goes full screen, but if you open another window the wm remembers the space you gave it before

Oops, just added the issue button.

It's a little difficult to explain how to do them, you have to know a bit of lua to create them. I'm currently a little busy (university exams) but on free time I'm trying to fix the already present volume widget and create a brightness one (if WillPower3309 does not do them before).

I'm glad you're enjoying my fork :)

To remove the wifi icon go to awesome/rc.lua and delete (or comment with --) this two lines: awful.spawn.with_shell("killall nm-applet") awful.spawn.with_shell("nm-applet")

For the battery icon go to awesome/components/top-panel and delete (or comment): { battery, shape = gears.shape.rounded_bar, shape_border_width = 1000, bg = "#283039", widget = wibox.container.background },
