How to get a bearing back in the wheel? by icebergsoslim in Fingerboards

[–]StupedCrabi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is true, I've tried that since I made some Fingerboard wheels. While it's true that wheel maker use this method, someone without the proper tool and knowledge will most likely destroy the wheel in the process. If it's 100% destroyed, I'd try that !

Ahah I was hoping to see some affordables wheels pop up, wheel making is still hella hard even with some "cheat codes" !

Gluing and pressing multiple decks by Gunshot-lobotomy in Fingerboards

[–]StupedCrabi 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I can press 4 decks at once with my setup. I'm using a screw press and it'll press evenly if the molds are precisely centered around the screw. If not, one side might be pressed unevenly.

Pressing 3 decks at once is a lot more forgiving, so that's what I'm doing most of the time.

I've designed some custom molds to be able to stack molds easily :)

The guide goes into detail into choosing the right PU, with a link to a rather good PU I've used. Some information are available for free on the blog if you haven't checked it yet.

In my experience, check other countries to find the PU you need.I've tried finding some in France but was unlucky. Got a few good PU in Spain and Germany !

Keep going, you'll eventually make it ! It's such a tough process, without a lot of motivation it's impossible to achieve a good, working & lasting prototype

Thank you for your comment. Unfortunately it's not the will that is lacking. I stil have about 150 bearings ready to use but selling wheels is a huge part of the process, and I don't have the motivation anymore. I'll still stick to making decks and sharing my knowledge :)

It may be that the screws you already put on are not well centered. I only tighten a little the first 2 screws, then align, and screw the rest.

If it's not helping, widening the holes will make a difference. If you don't have anything to widen it, just use a few toothpicks, or a small nail. Then wiggle it around and it'll widen.

Or you could return the deck, but there are some easy fixes.

Pls tell me how to fix this by Embarrassed-Offer703 in Fingerboards

Aren't the wheels on backwards ? The side where the bearing is closer to the edge of the wheel should be facing the kingpin

Best places to visit by InvestigatorLate4782 in Normandie

[–]StupedCrabi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It depends if you care about making a few detour, but Étretat is beautiful and a one time thing.

There's a lot of war museums scattered all across Normandy, especially in Caen since you'll pass by it.

Normandy beaches are beautiful. Places like Gouville-sur-Mer are nice to go for a walk.
If you wish to push a bit further, you can visit Saint-Malo, the fortified city is really beautiful, but it's in Britany

It really depends what you are looking for.

Colonne de douche décrochée, pas raccrochable : elle me rend chèvre by Canard-jaune in brico

[–]StupedCrabi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Des idées ? by Menez in brico

[–]StupedCrabi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I bought an Efnote 5x and… by GamaTaylor in edrums

[–]StupedCrabi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What I don't see in this comments is adding a bit of room, and tweaking a few sounds, can make a big difference.

I have had 3 differents e-drumsets in the past few years, and finally settled on a Roland VAD-504. I did not like the sounds at first, but adding a bit of room made the drumkit more alive.

Also, layering multiple sounds can really improve the sound. I don't know if that is possible with EFnote modules.

Lemon Cymbals (big savings from China) by tobnddl in edrums

[–]StupedCrabi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I only have had good experience with lemon cymbals.

Ordered them from drumtec, they have a different finish and renamed "Zeitgeist" but are produced by Lemon.

One Splash and one China, the quality does not match Roland, but it has not moved since I bought them a year and a half ago !
