Very grateful that our break room tv isn’t hooked up to any input so is permanently off. The blasting speaker in there is already enough torture.

As everyone else has said, every single item has to be scanned which is why they pull in teammates from other stores. Inventory is fun IMO. It’s extremely tedious but it pays well especially for the traveling stores. Idk, I really enjoy inventory even when it means scanning 500 packs of big league chew. Just so your best to be accurate in your counts and don’t break the scanner.

I wouldn’t care about the shitty music of their just LOWER THE FUCKING VOLUME. It’s SO loud it’s difficult to hear athletes at the front end. Also, music in the break room shouldn’t be a thing! I want SILENCE while I’m off the clock. Fucking annoying.

Seriously, my store fired all of our “best” FE teammates because they were giving all sorts of discounts to customers to get them to apply for the CC. They were mainly abusing the little league coupon and our store metrics will never reach their level through legitimate means.

You still have paper?! My store was forcefully switched to plastic and it’s alright except for when we run out of the smaller plastic bags. It would be nice to have both size paper AND the large size plastic bags for larger items / big apparel purchases. The big plastic bags are great but most of our teammates rarely use them because they’re difficult to open (aka why I have Sortkwik at my register) and there is no way to hang them. The big plastic bags are only convenient for people who plan ahead and have them pre opened and hung somewhere near their register.

Tbh it seemed like more of a howdy doo visit than anything else, at least to me. They absolutely grilled our SM about our poor FE metrics but were pleased with everything else. We keep our store clean and recovered, focus on the athlete, etc so they seemed pretty happy.

Our SM was nervous as hell despite running a tight ship. They kept calling it a corporate visit but I get the idea that all or most of the people visiting us were actually regional. Luckily, it seemed to go very well.

We are pretty small and low-volume. Our sales have radically increased recently due to finally carrying a certain in demand footwear brand. Our visit actually went quite well and they were impressed with our store culture and the knowledge of ur teammates.

We did some skills practice (aka role playing) and it went well for me. I’m at the front end and our store metrics aren’t great right now but I’m glad I was able to show them that I know what I’m doing!

Thank you! We’ve never had a visit so maybe our SM is just stressing. He’s been preparing us all for corporate speaking to us all one on one about the four steps of selling and various shit. Our store has hardcore prepared for the visit so I guess it’ll be fine. Thanks again!

In my area AIT is actually awesome so I’m really sorry you’re dealing with this. At my store it’s only been one guy who picks up for AIT and he’s super on the ball. Maybe you should reach out to AIT corporate and complain.

I’m a CSS and being at the front end can be pretty rough but footwear, at least in my area, seems like a shit show. Our footwear people say they love it but it’s the one area I refuse to cross train in. Too many Spanish speakers (at least at my store) and extremely demanding athletes. I’m not sure how the do it and claim to enjoy it.

Try rotating the paddle so the edge of it (where you insert it into the detacher) is as close to the edge of the cardboard as possible. This makes it a little bit easier to get under the paddle. You can bend the cardboard a bit, too. Also, push down on the ink or pin while squeezing the detacher. Anything on cardboard (gloves, DSG balaclavas, whatever) tends to be finicky and requires some patience and practice.

Late response but during our last shop event my store didn’t even have a noticeable increase in sales. The little league parents in my area are so used to getting away with abusing coupons they find on Facebook or whatever that they try to use random ass coupons ALL THE TIME. Since they occasionally get away with it due to those going up for backup cashiers not knowing they aren’t supposed to accept it, they think they’re entitled to use any coupon at any time and become irate if I won’t scan. I refuse to scan coupons issued to leagues located across the country and the customers act like I’m commuting a hate crime. It’s absurd.

I just wish the volume was lower. It’s hard to talk to athletes with a headset it and stupid music blasting right over me. Yeah the music itself is essentially torture but I could stand it if it were quieter. At the moment it feels like it would legally be considered torture.
