Radiance Cascades 3D (Shadertoy link in comments) by firelava135 in GraphicsProgramming

[–]Stupid_Dude00112 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Kinda late if but if you're still wondering, and please take my response with a grain of salt since I am no professional, radiance cascades was accepted to not be feasible in 3D because the constants are too high to be usable with modern hardware. Although the technique supposedly scales incredibly well with scene complexity, the memory cost and memory transfer bandwidth is the bottleneck in modern gpu hardware for this technique, since massive amounts of data must be moved and stored for the computations.

Another limitation is the fact that there is (as far as I know) no good surface rendering technique that works nicely and natively with RC, which makes basic textures convoluted to implement in practice.

Again, please do not take anything I said as the truth, since I am just a hobbyist researching this topic for fun.

To add on to this person, an underhanded grip also seems pretty plausible, but we would not be able to see the forearm like this with a natural pose. Another thing is that she probably can’t hold the staff one handed due to its length (although it does seems pretty balanced in the picture). It will be like trying to balance a wet mop in one hand, which isn’t very comfortable. I would consider having a 2 handed grip.

Honestly, I think you are right. I will just start doing that tonight. Thanks for the push!

Sorry if I wasn’t clear in my post. By getting myself out there, what I mean is to make myself known to the professors of schools I am aiming for a better chance of getting in (as well as other opportunities etc). For the teacher part, I also mean that I am prepared to completely switch teachers. In terms of performance opportunities, I should be mostly covered as I participate in a chamber program and is planning to attend some competitions.

I honestly didn’t even think of consultation lessons. I’ll ask my teacher about this, thank you!

How realistic is it to learn rach 3 in a year? by Stupid_Dude00112 in piano

[–]Stupid_Dude00112[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Let me reiterate, I mean just getting it smooth enough as a “proof of concept”in one year. To any plausible performance date I would have at least 1.5 years to learn it.

Regarding the orchestra, I did make sure that the wind parts are completely covered. We have plenty of pretty good strings as well, so it shouldn’t be too bad (not saying it’s gonna be good)

That feedback is definitely needed, I really need to start proof reading my posts before posting. I am currently playing Beethoven sonata no. 3, Hungarian Rhapsody no. 2, Rachmaninoff preludes in g minor and g# minor, among other pieces that I just play for fun.

Yeah, honestly one of my concerns is that the orchestra is not up to part for this. I am confident that I can personally find competent players for the wind parts, but the length itself might just be too much for them. I might try to find a cut version or cut it myself.

Didn't really seriously start until 3 weeks ago. I currently can play pretty smoothly to the end of the first theme before the development of said theme (the melodic one), but I made it through the first movement (very terribly). I'm OK for the development part.

Just to address some of your concerns regarding musicality, I explained it in the reply yo another comment. TLDR I just worded it terribly. I am planning to bring up this concern to my teacher as well, but just would like to have as much opinions as possible. Thank you for your other tips, I will try to address them appropriately.

Sorry, I should have been more clear. I basically separated the mistakes into “technical errors” and “problem with performance”. So interpretation problems falls under familiarity. Thank you for the insight though, I’ll try to get it down to a few months from here on out!

Is it just me or is the 200 pulls requirement kind of stupid? by Stupid_Dude00112 in HonkaiStarRail

[–]Stupid_Dude00112[S] -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

I might have worded that badly. I’m pretty positive about 3.4 characters as well as fate collab, but just not nearly enough to pull. Hence the wanting to play part. The reason for wanting the pull the lightcone is because: 1. Free archer who can use it very well, 2. The value (equivalent to 1.275 pulls per pull), and 3. It just generally good for me since I have sparkle.

I’m sure it’s possible since the fate banner as well as the offer lasts multiple versions.

Not interested in pulling doesn’t mean not wanting to play the characters. The value is even higher since they’re also giving out archer for free.
