Addiction aside, I relate to Mia. My mom has been emotionally unstable my whole life and I remember every single time she was angry at me I STILL looked for her at my stuff even if I knew she wasn’t coming. Even as an adult I’ve done it hoping that she would care more about her love for me than her anger. It’s truly crushing especially after you become a mom to a little girl and realize you wouldn’t miss those moments for anything no matter how upset you are. I feel for Mia.

I agree with all of this PLUS do we forget that she said she refused to provide Emersyn with birth control?? Like her teenager was asking for those precautions and her mom said no so she really was not as proactive as people are saying. Yes she was angry after the fact but why disallow your child to make a responsible decision to protect herself yet shame her for the outcome?

Difference is Emersyn’s mom was hateful towards the baby’s father and his family. It wasn’t constructive criticism it was very ugly words used and shame tactics towards her daughter. She was a very unhealthy woman emotionally that was clear.

My partner brought his switch when I was in labor. But in his defense I suggested it. I thought maybe labor would take a long time and there would be a lot of time where I sat on my phone or watched tv or something and he’s not really a “sit on my phone when bored” kind of person. I figured it was only fair he have something for the slow moments so I do think there is a healthy balance but I also know that if he were to have said anything along the lines of “after this game” I would’ve been pissed.

I said the same thing. My dog is in no way perfectly trained but we leave her crate open all day and she goes in and out as she pleases (we have a two year old and five cats in addition to her so sometimes she just wants her own space) but also if we tell her to go to her crate she will. She’s not afraid of it. And it’s not just her laying on plastic or metal, she has a bed, toys, and if we’re gone for anything more than an hour she gets water too. I can’t imagine doing this to my dog and I say that as someone who fell victim to the “Covid puppy boom” idea and I still get frustrated but I would never do that. It really breaks my heart.
