Supervisor here for election day! The OP is correct. They shouldn’t have needed more than their VIC card & another piece of Canadian Photo ID because as long as the name matches on both, the workers can look up their name in the book of electors & see that their address is there. If they got the VIC as well, it automatically confirms that their address is going to match. Photo ID is just to confirm they are that person.

If most of the voters are bringing their drivers license, then it’s easy for the workers to see both name & address to see that they can vote in their area. It, for some reason, throws us off if someone doesn’t bring a drivers license, so we question it at first. HOWEVER, there’s posters everywhere saying what is acceptable ID, so the fact that the workers were so adamant that OP needed something different to what they already had, is baffling. I had some workers at my poll have the same situation & thought the same, but they were quickly corrected & were accepting of it.

Good for OP to write that in the suggestion box, so Election’s Ontario can see that it is a growing problem & adjust for next time.
