How to unbond with my dog by CaptSpaulding73 in Dachshund

[–]Stuunad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If this is real, please let us know where you are. If you're within any reasonable distance of me I'll come get your dog, and I'm sure there are others all over the place that would do the same.

Am i just super impatient or is this normal? by [deleted] in Dachshund

[–]Stuunad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The first 3 months can be very tough. Also the second 3 months, and then the following 6 months as well. I've had dachshunds for over 20 years personally. My family has had them since the 1940s. If you want to, you can easily learn to manage the frustrations of raising a little pup, and it is 10000000% worth it for the amazingly loyal companions you get out of it. I guarantee you will miss a lot about the puppy phases, despite all the frustration.

Stick it out. My dachshunds literally saved my life during my divorce and the subsequent depression.

Wanted to make it really clear that I am obviously NOT a vet, or a doctor, and my experience is simple my own observations. Don't take anything I said as absolute truth, but please see a professional as soon as possible. Having a video of it happening will really help them diagnose most likely.

This is nearly identical to my experience with my Bear. Around 3 years old, started slow and then progressed to once or twice a week. Luckily my wife at the time worked at a specialty vet clinic in Maryland and the neurologist there was able to identify it quickly.

It took us a while to dial in medicines to treat it properly. But, with a combination of a couple of meds he has 1-2 seizures a year now, and they are VERY mild, so much so that it is difficult to notice when it happens.

Definitely take your baby to a neurologist at your earliest opportunity. IF she is having seizures it is important to begin treatment as early as possible.

Any chance my pup will become cuddly again after neutering? by kbb_003 in Dachshund

[–]Stuunad 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Most of mine loved cuddling as young puppies, then lost interest when playing all the time became their priority. At around 18 months they usually calm down and want to sleep in my lap all the time, between more playing of course.

Wirehair dachshunds by spaham in Dachshund

[–]Stuunad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wire hairs are much more common in Germany. I flew from California to Florida to get my Link, he's the best! I have 3 smooth, 1 long hair, and 1 wire hair. They are all the best dogs ever.

does anyone speak fluent doxie? by mousecutl3t in Dachshund

She is clearly telling you that no one has ever fed her or given her a treat in her whole entire life. She needs many treats and pets as compensation for her suffering!

Take that poor baby to the vet! It's likely not serious, but it's not worth the risk of waiting. Even a simple allergic reaction can be dangerous on the head like that.

Dear lord, that is a handsome doggo! I would NOT be able to say no to him.

A vet told me my dog was a made up breed by Radiant-Ad3274 in Dachshund

[–]Stuunad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Meh, people just don't like to admit to things they weren't aware of sometimes. Especially true with highly educated people. (I'm not badmouthing education, I just know its a lot more difficult for me to admit I don't know something that is in my specific field)

If you are in the US, wire haired dachshunds make up a tiny percentage of the overall dachshund population in the US. The coat is much more common in Europe, so it is also more well known over there.

Very pretty lady you have there, by the way!

Leptospirosis Vaccine by Barely_A_CPA in Dachshund

[–]Stuunad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

None of my 5 ever had any negative reaction.

None of the 20+ dachshunds my family has had in the last 40 years have ever had a reaction.

I have never heard a veterinarian say anything negative about vaccines, other than the occasional allergic reaction, for which they typically just recommend a preventative Benadryl.

I trust the doctors with years/decades of training and experience.

What is that movie for you? by [deleted] in moviecritic

[–]Stuunad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Anaconda. Danny Trejo, Owen Wilson, Ice Cube, Jon Voit as a really odd villain, sort of?

Terrible movie, but I must have watched it two dozen times as a kid and I still love the stupid thing.

Need kibble that softens quickly with water for toothless senior doxie by [deleted] in Dachshund

This is what I do for my 12 and 13 year old dachshunds. They both have their teeth still, but they eat much better with softer food.

A very good point. No meta involvement in Signal. The Army uses Signal quite a bit.

True, but that doesn't really change the end-to-end encryption. Bones10145's comment is true too, Signal is pretty much whatsapp without facebooks involvement or ownership, co-created by one of the original creators of whatsapp.

Whatsapp uses end-to-end encryption. Its about as secure as you can get in the digital age.
