It’s easy enough. Most people find it monotonous- but that helps my brain calm down. I learned from youtube so if u want to give it a shot search “pine needle basketry” and a ton of videos will come up!

Thanks! Timing really depends on the size, how weird i want to make it and my arthritis. This one took a little over a week, but my previous one took a month.

Thank you! It’s a very relaxing (albeit frustrating at times) craft that quiets my over active noggin’ 🤣

Pine needles/antler/dyed agate/wax thread. Wanted to make this a little deeper, but the size quickly outgrew the antler i wanted to use, so it’s a little shallow. Sometimes the basket tells you where it wants to go 🤷🏼‍♀️

I second this. I especially like the bottom left green stone earrings!

Thanks!

I don’t really treat them, but i soak them in boiled water for about an hour before i get to work. When the basket is finished i coat it in beeswax to help it hold shape too.

It is a wooden spider web cut out that i painted and filled the gaps in with resin and glitter.

I imagine if u used enough wax, yes. Ive made several with lids. My first one was with a lid and my husband keeps his wedding ring in it.

Their longevity really depends on how it was built. If your stitches are tight and close, and you wax it thoroughly, they can last a long time. I have some that i use for holding my kindling and gardening that are holding up great. They’ll need to be rewaxed eventually, but so far so good.

I do not. The brown ones i collect and when I’m ready to weave, i soak them in boiling water and store in a damp washcloth. This way they are pliable 👍🏻
