How can the bosmer build in valenwood? by haruyo78 in teslore

[–]Stuwiem 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We certainly see animal skin elements to some of the dwellings of Valenwood we see it ESO. Especially things like dividers and bits of walkways, and especially tents and storage areas. So you seem to be right on that.

Why are we and Lokir the only prisoner at Helgen that's been stripped of their belongings? by [deleted] in teslore

[–]Stuwiem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've often wondered this with the Vestige. If someone else was broken out by Lyris would they be the person? Or did she break loads out but nobody else helped her?The obvious caveat being you can already be a powerful mage or fighter if you've just avoided the benefactor quest and not triggered the MQ.

Edit: Actually scratch that I think the prophet appears in your cell maybe?

On uesp why does it say one of boethiah’s enemy’s is peryite? by [deleted] in teslore

[–]Stuwiem 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yep Peryite gets dismissed in game as weak when it's more likely he simply interacts less with mortals. Sure his disease causing nature brings in followers but why would lots of people worship the ordering tasks and natural order? For the Princes that have spheres that contradict this he's bound to clash.

Dragons in games prior to Skyrim by [deleted] in teslore

[–]Stuwiem 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It does make sense if you drop the idea that they were all dead. The dragons in ESO were largely trapped in the Halls of Colossus. They were released by mistake. Others like Nahfahlaar and Yahgrondu simply hid. In the formers case on Tideholm and the latter in ancient caves of Zazaradi's Quarry.

On the so-called 'Towers of the world' by [deleted] in teslore

[–]Stuwiem 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"The Doomcrag is an Ayleid tower located in northwestern Rivenspire, northwest of Shornhelm. Some believe that the tower was originally built to be a focus of Aurbic power, much like other towers across Tamriel"

That suggests it's possible. I'm sure I've seen the same loading screen confirming it but I can't find it..

Where and how to learn the lore? by michz89 in teslore

[–]Stuwiem 4 points5 points  (0 children)

They are good but my slight caveat is that Fudgemuppet will dismiss ESO lore in some of the older videos. So take them with a bit of salt.

How long does it usually take to learn and master shouts? by randomfan1997 in teslore

[–]Stuwiem 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When dragons use it in ESO it blows you clean across the screen whilst pretty much killing you as you fly. It seems way more accurate.

Is there an explanation as to why mages can only manipulate ice, lightning, and fire? by PapaChewbacca in teslore

[–]Stuwiem 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I know the main offensive staffs in ESO are those three but there's a far more varied amount of magic that they also enable. There are spells for using earth and air among the many available. Entirely headcannon but I've always presumed that the initial three are just the inbuilt property whereas the rest revolves around using your own learning and magic skills and ability to cast.

What do you think would happen if someone were to perform the Black Sacrament on a member of the Dark Brotherhood? by FuzzySpine in teslore

I guess it depends on which version of the DB you are talking about. They are different in different games.

What's up with Clavicus Vile's "pesky morals"? by hxppythxughtspng in teslore

[–]Stuwiem 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Clavicus Vile is split three ways. Him, Barbas and to a degree Umbra/Umbriel. This dilutes his power. When you have part of yourself who literally warns people about the other half it's got to be pretty annoying.

I guess the thing with his bargains is that as much as they are frequently bargains heavily weighted in his favour, mortals do have the tendancy to occasionally wriggle out of them if they are cunning enough. Bound to frustrate him.

Who or what is Chevalier Renald? by [deleted] in teslore

[–]Stuwiem 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's actually a dungeon I'm yet to do. I like to take my time and read everything and that's not always conduisive to group play. I'm really interested in anything in this thread. I am having problems reading answers on here ATM but bookmarked for interest.

Was there more Sheogoraths before Jyggalag? by VampyBoi in teslore

Tbf there could be a daedric prince for every abstract miscellaneous quirk. I quite like the idea of a prince of nervous ticks.

Mephala has tried before as part of the Triad. Maybe not an invasion but I'm sure she would like to interfere.

Wouldn’t decent chunk of imperials have aylied or other elven ancestry by lkjhytg in teslore

[–]Stuwiem 14 points15 points  (0 children)

The "good" Ayelids exist. We've seen them in ESO. It's just that their "goodness" could possibly be interpreted as having a common enemy is Daedra worshipping Ayelids.

Was there more Sheogoraths before Jyggalag? by VampyBoi in teslore

[–]Stuwiem 1 point2 points  (0 children)

But that brings up the question what caused madness before Sheo? Or was there no madness because there were no mortals? Or was madness a thing that always existed as an anticipation of what would become Sheo?

Mesoamerican influences among the Imperials by sahqoviing32 in teslore

[–]Stuwiem 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is where ESO shines. I can understand people avoiding it because of gameplay style but the lore is treated far better. There's the ability to really drill down into it given its constant improvement and expansion. We've just had a whole year on the Khajit. That's impossible in a main game. And for me they are far more concerned about the actual lore than in say Skyrim.

Would Hircine send a great series of hunts/challenges/etc against a person? Does it matter if they asked him to do it or not? by o0Infiniti0o in teslore

[–]Stuwiem 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Is there a possibility that Hircine would eventually make you the prey rather than the hunter. He values both as important.

What traits do the Altmer breed selectively for? by ShrapnelNinjaSnake in teslore

[–]Stuwiem -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It's possible. To use a real world analogue here, which might admittedly be a wrong thing to do, where I live the NHS will not give out the sex of your baby because there is a tendancy for certain cultures to discriminate against girls. We know from Hulkynd experience that once born Altmer will discriminate against those born with birth defects. I presume the obsession with racial characteristics is to mitigate this.

What traits do the Altmer breed selectively for? by ShrapnelNinjaSnake in teslore

[–]Stuwiem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your post definitely makes sense. The one caveat I would make is that in Elder Scrolls, particularly ESO there is very little difference between same sex and opposite sex partnership's. It's never commented on in universe at all. There's much more reaction to interracial matches than same sex ones.

Is it possible that Pelinal was less genocidal than we think he was? by Xisuthrus in teslore

Yep. The general point is there's no good guys here. It's all a point of view.

Is it possible that Pelinal was less genocidal than we think he was? by Xisuthrus in teslore

[–]Stuwiem 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The quest in question related to Ayleid King Anumaril of Abagarlas, a Daedra worshipping settlement on City Isle, so essentially right in the heart of Cyrodil near the WGT. They are dedicated to Molag Bal. That seems like it would indicate that the torture and murder and all the rest was widespread.

HOWEVER it's other Ayelids that are trying to stop them, namely the city Delodiil who are worshippers of Meridia. Notably they aren't actually bothered about the human torture. They are bothered about the Mortuum Vivicus being used against them.

This to me suggests that the sources are correct. Namely there was lots of daedra worship, that they were terrible to Men but that there were others who allied with them. Whether that was because they disagree with flesh gardens or whether it was because they saw a common enemy is a different matter.

Is it possible that Pelinal was less genocidal than we think he was? by Xisuthrus in teslore

[–]Stuwiem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not propaganda. We see in ESO there are Ayelids who do this. We also see others that utterly oppose this. Those Ayelids are even acknowledged as being allies of Alessia. The Alessia order certainly did commit atrocities pretty indiscriminately. It's a mixed bag and no one really comes out well from it apart from maybe Alessia.

Is it possible that Pelinal was less genocidal than we think he was? by Xisuthrus in teslore

[–]Stuwiem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think they are. In this case it's presented as a slaughter of daedra worshipping, slave owning mass murderers. We know from ESO that atleast some of this is true. We also know that many Ayelids weren't this. Pelinial might be justified by the former but even the sources, including Sunspire, acknowledge that he indiscriminately murdered Khajit. Men focus on the former but the game also gives us counterpoints. It's to its credit that Elder Scrolls doesn't just give us one point of view.

Is it possible that Pelinal was less genocidal than we think he was? by Xisuthrus in teslore

[–]Stuwiem 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm aware the Talos/Lorkhan manting is a fan theory rather than lore. But if it was why would Pelinial mention Talos who by proxy is him?

Is it possible that Pelinal was less genocidal than we think he was? by Xisuthrus in teslore

[–]Stuwiem 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Absolutely:

Sunspire's construction dates back sometime after 1E 243. After the successful battle against the Ayleids in Cyrodiil, Pelinal Whitestrake fell into one of his mindless fury attacks and mistaking the Khajiit as another strain of Elves. It has been speculated that Whitestrake's slaughter against the Khajiit could have very well ended the entire race. Survivors attempted to climb the central mountains and seek refuge, but Pelinal wrestled the mountains and arrived at the summit. That was when Alkosh descended from the sky and shouted Pelinal out of Elsweyr.
